Location: Somewhere between raising hell and Amazing Grace | Obviously most people know what happened yesterday at Fort Hood. Please don't ask any questions but we have a fellow NCO that could use a lot of prayers right now, along with the family and friends of the victims in Texas.....
edited to add that NCO is a Non Commissioned Officer.....enlisted E5 and above. I know some people may not know that. This one hit a little too close to home......

I don't think it has anything to do with Texas or location. It's more to do with how busy Fort Hood is and probably has a lot to do with the Chain of Command there. Fort Hood and Fort Campbell are the two busiest bases in America, and I believe Fort Hood has the largest amount of people......
Can I also ask you guys to say a special prayer for the shooters wife and family? They sure didn't ask for this to happen to them either and are just as much victims as everyone else. |

You are so right, they didn't ask to be part of it - just like those shot didn't ask to be shot. It is sad. The whole dang situation - Many prayers for EVERYONE involved.

Yes prayers for this poor lady and family, they just moved there this Feb.
And there was another shooting in a neighbor hood yesterday there too, they dont know if it was anything to do with this mass shooting, but a family had their glass doors shot out while they were in another room watching TV. And are now planing of moving as fast as possible. |

And there was another shooting in a neighbor hood yesterday there too, they dont know if it was anything to do with this mass shooting, but a family had their glass doors shot out while they were in another room watching TV. And are now planing of moving as fast as possible.
There are over 45000 soldiers and around 9000 civilians working on Hood. And like missroselee mentioned it is a very busy place. Lots of people transitioning in and out.
Yesterday was a sad day all around, and later at night there was a convenience store robbery in Temple (30 mins away) that left one person (store clerk) dead.... Not to mention, today I saw in the paper that a vehicle was found with a pipe-like device attached to it. Now that turned out to be fake, but why in the world would someone do that??
Turned out my friend/colleague knew one of the guys that was killed. That really hits close to home....
My thoughts go out to everyone involved.

The shooter was in the same building as my husband in December and January before going to Ft Hood. He was reclassing from infantry to 88mike (truck driver). He was not one of hubby's soldiers but in a different class in the same building. The reports say the military wasn't helping him but that wasn't true.
As an AIT platoon sgt and over 300 AIT soldiers in the building, none of the NCOs knew the guy well. The instructors spend more time with them during the day at classes and training. |
