Location: Where ever there's sunshine! | We have a local fair that puts on a rodeo as well. My baby sister took her finished mare, it was their first rodeo together. After the third the mare spooked at something and my sister tried to correct it. The mare slammed her front end in to the ground and my sister went over her shoulder and was then run over by the mare. She went unconscious momentarily but was a wake by the time they put her in the ambulance. She doesn't remember the accident, but is totally with it mentally. She was admitted to the hospital after they found a fracture in the base of the left side of her scull. All test so far have been good, but they are keeping her for observation and running some more tests today. I'm out of town and can't be there and its breaking my heart. I would sure appreciate a few prayers for her... |

Location: Where ever there's sunshine! | Thank y'all! It was crazy freak accident. The mare was apparently trying jump over her as her and clipped her in the back of the head. Drs haven't said but I'm quite certain had it hit any further to the right it may have caused more injuries. She's a very lucky lady right now. I'm finally headed that way. Thank you again for all your thoughts and prayers. This really is a great group of people here on BHW.
it's not a matter of if, but a matter of when you will get hurt. Please be careful riding those wonderful creatures god blessed our souls with. |

I had one slam on the brakes and spook while I was on bareback at a lope. I slide forward as he reared to spook. My left eyebrow connected with his poll splitting my head wide open. It fractured my skull and I still have a dip in my head. I had slurred speech and bizarre uncontrollable movement of my legs and hands for about 6 months. I couldn't remember birthdays, telephone numbers, and couldn't talk in complete sentences. It was bizarre. |

Location: Where ever there's sunshine! | So far neurologically she is stable. Her pain and nausea meds are making her sick so they have a specialist coming in to see what else can be done. |

Location: Where ever there's sunshine! | The mare is fine. Nothing happened to her. So far they. Got meds in Kricket and she about to keep them down. She's not wanting to eat but that's to be expected. We're making baby steps forward. Your prayers are being heard!! |

Location: Where ever there's sunshine! | They sent her home Wednesday with strict orders to protect her head. We had it out that evening after she snuck off and started tending to horses when no one was looking. She finally agreed she would leave them alone as long as she could make feed and clean stalls. I compromised and told her she could play with our mini, John Wayne, so long as she kept her head above him. So far so good. Other than a head ache and some stiff muscles she's back to normal. Thank y'all soo much for all your kind words and prayers!! |

| I've been hurt more than a few times and make it a practice now that before I do anything with horses, I say a little prayer for the Lord to be with me and protect me. I think everybody could benefit from that practice. A couple of weeks, I got busy, bringing a new horse in and got in the trailer to back her out and she started backing and then lunged forward, mashing my ribcage against the front of the feeder. Later that night as I lay in bed hurting, I remembered I had forgotten to pray. God has a way of ensuring we keep him involved. |

Great idea! We should all be doing this. And an so glad to hear your sister is home and doing well. Continued prayers. |
