This is the Gay Bar Silver horse we rescued in Feb 2012. When we got him, he was so emaciated, he smelled of death. He was a 4 year old stallion when we got him. (since gelded) He has the best disposition and is such a sweetheart. I have started him on the barrels, however, won't get too wild on him because he is doing in these photos just what was planned for him. My grandson is 20 mos. old and this his first lead line playday. Tuff will be Bryce's horse when he is old enough to ride by himself. Appaloosa Horses have got such personalities. Bryce was trying to give Tuff a kiss for doing such a good job. |

| One thing I have noticed in my reseach into PSSM is that it is common in some appy lines. So, do the test before you make a decision to purchase. It is also common in some QH lines so I'm not hating on appys. Getting the 5 panel test should be something we all think about before buying/breeding these days. |

| I'm App people. ;) Here are a few.
This is my now retired 26 year old, back when she was about 22.

And this is her and the weight I need to get back down to in order to get my young horse running properly.

One of her sisters that I've won a lot on over the years. She's also in retirement at 22 this year.

One of my young'uns that I bred and raised.

Colt out of the first mare. No spots on this one though. :(

The mare that is learning to run now. While I have pics of her turning, apparently they aren't on my pb yet.

Location: Smack Dab in the Middle | No spots on the one I'm running, but I love her to death. She's a nut though.
She has two ROM's and about 40 ApHC points, and has worked her way up to being a nice little 1D/2D jackpot horse. She ran her first 1D time at a big race last month, so I'm really excited and happy with her. And she is remarkably good with my son. She was his leadline horse at the App show at our fair last fall.
And just for your spots fix, here's some of Mom and I's recent horses...all half siblings to my mare.

Beautiful foundation breeding on the bottom. I loved Mighty David, he put great body on his babies and pretty heads. The top side, Goer is race bred all the way, but showed as a halter horse and did very well. he was promoted as a stallion that sired halter babies that could perform as they aged (and they did). My mare that I posted above is a grand-daughter of Goer on the top side.
I will have to ask my mom for sure, but I think my uncle showed Stand Me Grand (that name is so familiar) as a very successful halter horse for a while... |

Is she standing on an angle? Her neck is so short to me.... I like the rest of her.
I'm finding it hard to find them with refined heads too. |

I'm going to say complete opposite here. Goer was IMO one of the most unathletic families in the App breed, and Stand Me Grand was certainly no exception. Every SMG that I rode you needed a kidney belt as they hit the ground so hard. Almost all wanted to be extremely front ended type of horses and tough to collect. They made pretty halter horses and parade horses. |

Location: Montana | Thank you all for your input. I am thinking of buying her. Bandwatch, she is a halter horse. I was wondering if she would be worth my time. She had 30 days a few years ago, otherwise she has been a broodmare. I would have to basically re-break her and I was wondering if it would be worth my time. Her neck is proportionate though it doesnt look it in the picture. |

Location: MI | There is exceptions to every rule. If she was free to good home, you would just invest feed, farrier, some of your time, and a lot of your sanity. Lol. I love a good App, but IMO she'll sour you on the breed. If you go look at her again, look at her withers and notice where your saddle will sit. Then watch her trot and lope, notice if legs are on outside corners and how hard she hits the ground. Those were the 2 traits I encountered most with all the Stand Me Grands that I rode. |
