Location: home for the winter...what a dumb idea | I just found out the city where my Grandma lived is more then likely going to burn her house down, because my aunt had a meth lab in it.......I am so mad heart broken and sad I don't even know how to feel. My Gram has been gone for almost 7 year. But in a way she was always still here to me in that house. I have so many good memorys of the holidays and helping her with her flowers....She was always so proud of her flowers and the house my grandpa build for her when he got back from the war.
I know ita just a house but I was looking forward to the day I could take Lee my son though it and tell him of his grandparents and all my wonderful memories of watching the trains go by and counting the cars, and sitting on the patio in the early morning with gram listing to the jennyren the bird that has its nest in the big maple by where Pepper the dog is buried. |

Location: Florida.. | I am sorry for your past memories being burned down but they will live inside you forever.. tell stories to your kids..
if a meth lab was in it .. it needs burned down. you dont want to be walking thru it.The city is doing right.

I don't blame you one bit for feeling that way. Are there any plants outside you could try to transplant before they burn the house? Or maybe pull off a board or two from the outside (opposite side from where the lab was vented) to make a picture frame to hold a picture of the house?
So sorry. I will never be able to fathom why someone would want to start that crap in the first place. |

When my gram passed my aunt kept most of the photos and stuff she said she wanted the house to be like gram left it...... |

| Hi.. I'm fairly new to (posting) on the board. I just want you to know that I've been in almost the exact same boat as you are. My great grandparents are the most important people in the world to me. I was their first great grandchild and they moved to my home town from their Oklahoma, where they had lived for 70+ years when my mom was pregnant with me. They basically raised me until I started kindergarten, they took care of me so my parents didn't have to put me in daycare. My great grandfather was raised on a ranch in the 20s, 30s, 40s, and loved horses as much or more than I do. He's the reason I love horses, he passed away 4 years ago. My great grandmother is still alive. Anyway, our houses back up to each other, we basically share a backyard. I was raised in those two houses. A little over a year ago, our houses were hit by an EF4 tornado, my family and animals were fine. My house received damage, but was savable. Unfortunately, my grandparents house was destroyed. I was like you, all the memories of my Pa were in that house. Hearing their back door slam, the smell of the house, the carpet, the rooms we had spent so much time in, all made it seem like Pa was still here.. I couldn't wait to take my kids back one day and show them where the two most influential people in my life called home. It was a place that was a treasure to all of my family. Watching them tear the remains of the house down and bury the house was by no means easy. It was heart breaking. I can't lie. But I can tell you that it will get better. The memories really do live in your heart. After the tornado, more important than having the house afterwards was saving all of the pictures, his shirts, his 100 year old saddle and pulling collar, his chair. Those were what were most important. As much as I would love to still visit their house, I realize that it was out of my hands what happened, and I have my memories to cherish.. It's not easy, but it really will be ok. |

I am so sorry you are having to lose your Grandmother's house because of something stupid someone did. It is sad. But I think this is a good idea. Salvage what they will let you have. Try to look for the blessings you have. It is a blessing to have had such a wonderful Grandmother in your life. Many people don't have good memories of having a Grandmother and her house. Exactly. I was wondering how long it has been since you have been in the house? Probably best that you not see the inside. I am sure it is nothing like you remember, better to keep your memories intact. Your Grandmother will live on in your heart. |

Because she is most certainly a drug addict. Addicts don't make decisions like the rest of us - they are driven by their addiction, period. They don't give a crap about anyone or anything else. Did your Aunt go to jail? |

I was wondering the same thing about the Aunt, so sorry about the Grandparents home being torn down. I would be very upset too over this, my grandparents were very important in my life. |

Yes she will be going to prison for a very long time, to be honest probably the rest of her life her health has never been great and she has had several back sugurys, and has a degenerative bone condition. |

When her brain comes out of the "fog" while she is in prison, she will probably have a lot of regrets. Meth does terrible things to a person's brain and completely changes their personality. When we lived in the Midwest, we had a young family that lived next door to us. They had two kids. The guy got into Meth and he completely changed. They went through a divorce, the bank was about to take their place and we ended up buying the property along with the double wide trailer that they lived in. We had to junk the trailer, it had to be gutted. The walls were painted black in one of the boy's rooms. There was a dead cat in the heat duct, you can imagine how that smelled. There was food all over the walls in the kitchen and living areas, like they had thrown it at one another. Trash everywhere. This was a nice young couple before they got into the Meth. Totally changed them. He ended up in jail for awhile, she remarried and returned to a normal life with her two boys. I often wondered though, how those kids coped through all of that. |

Location: home for the winter...what a dumb idea | I am flying home Thursday for the weekend to do Easter with my family. I am hoping they will let us have atlest some of the flowers and cutting off the Apple trees. Hoping to dig up some bulbs and take the bird houses. |

I don't blame you one bit. I can relate. After my grandparents passed, my cousin got the house. He and his girlfriend destroyed it!! The city had the big climbing tree cut down in the front yard, that was hard all in itself, and it was just a tree. Now some people who flip houses bought it and are fixing it up. They painted it a different color, and I had a hard time with that even. Many hugs! It's hard  |

| Memories are the best.my mom had a house built in 1901 that she sold to the school so they whipped it out to use the land so its really sad to me and to make matters worse it had two glass stained door's she said she wanted to take before they tore it down and he absolutely Jane so when she went to get they were gone so she went to his house and they were on his house and he told her he never had a conversation like that. |

Oh, that is really too bad. Often if a house, car, jewelry etc., is purchased with funds from drug activity or used in any kind of drug dealings, it is taken by law enforcement. They usually sell the items and the proceeds go back into drug enforcement. Both my brother and my brother in law have worked undercover and they drove around in vehicles that were taken from drug dealers. |

Location: Southwest Minnesota | If you are allowed to get flowers and bird houses that would be nice...don't count on it. Take pictures if you can and if you have old pictures try putting together a little scrapbook or photo album. My childhood home was just tore down too, for different reasons than yours but it's still gone. It's sad, pictures and written down stories of your memories will help. Hugs to you... |
