Personally...not a Bailey fan. I've had a terrible time getting them to hold a shape, and if they ever get sprinkled on, you may as well use it for a dust rag! I've never had a Stetson, so no help there. All my hats are custom ones from Star of the West in Rapid City. Brad's prices are super reasonable for custom hats, and are even competitive with shelf hats from the major companies - Bailey, Resistol, Stetson, etc.

Keep in mind when you're shopping for hats that there is NO STANDARD for X-ratings. I've had a few 5X Baileys that were nowhere near the quality of hat that a 5X Star of the West is.

Brad built me a 5X tan hat almost six years ago. In that span of time, that hat has been to rodeos and barrel races all over, and has been rained on more than once. It also took a wild ride down the ski slope at the Cowboy Downhill last year, and it still looks good as new and holds its shape wonderfully!
