It's amazing how patient and good most horses are!!

Seen a horse on facebook someone was trying to sell, saddle was a mess, bridle on backwards, straps going places they shouldn't. they even had a video of them riding it. Told hubby that if I was in search of a kids horse I would buy that sucker, because any horse that could put up with that, has got to be a saint.

Nice!!!  That's better than advertising a "guilding" or a "gelding stud". Or a 6 ft horse and 7 ft tall horse.  I've just about seen it all, but that's awesome!

I love surfing craigslist for a good chuckle.

I worked at a farm store in college and had an old cattle rancher come in to buy some new tack. He said that he had given up his horses to check cattle on a 4 wheeler. After a wreck on the 4 wheeler he decided to get a good horse. I sold him a bridle with a shank bit and curb chain and a saddle with fittings. I offered to put everything together for him but he assured me he knew what he was doing.

A few days later he came in looking like he had been drug backwards through a hedge and asked for a longer noseband. I was horrified to discover that he put the shank bit on upside down and used the curb strap as a noseband. He rode his ranch horse in this getup and ended up getting run through a bunch of trees. I fixed his bridle and he didn't have any more mishaps.

Now we own a saddle shop, so I see this stuff and worse all the time.

Yes!! I get it all the time, too. Yesterday we had a guy wanting "hoof boots" so we were trying to sell him bell boots. He said no and then we asked for more detail and he said they were "leg boots." SMB's? Polo wraps? Nope. This guy wanted HORSE SHOES.

And don't EVEN try to tell people how to wrap a quilt and standing bandage properly. It's like trying to get them to understand the Theory of Relativity.

Every time I see something like this on Craigslist or Facebook I tell them what's up. "Not trying to be rude but..." Nót only am I informing the owner but also informing potential buyers that this person is a moron

OK, I gotta admit that before combination bits were available, I used a curb chain on a pole horse's nose like that.  It was the only thing that would keep him under control going into the arena.  But, that was 1975.

My newest pet peeve is when people say "out of" instead of "by" when referring to a horses sire. I actually was guilty of this a time or two in the past. For some reason now it bugs me. LOL
