Ok so I have some old bills from a previous marriage. I have been slowly trying to pay them but it seems like they just keep coming.

Anyway I am now remarried and we r trying to file our taxes and I am wondering if these collectors will hurt my husbands income tax return. I dont feel that he should have to pay for the stuid BS that my x husband got me into!! Thanks for any answers in advance!!

Google: IRS injured spouse & see if it applies to your situation.

We did that for my student loan but I don't know if it will apply to other bills, cell phone type things etc. My x thought it would b ok to just run bills up and go with a different provider, and I was young and dumb enough to go along with it!!

You can "fix" it for next year by reducing your withholdings so he does not get a large refund.

I don't know if you've ever looked into Dave Ramsey, but I would highly recommend him. He changed our whole financial life.
