So I got my perfect bit and the only thing that i dont love is that the shanks(mainly the right) will go through my horses mouth(as if hes grabbing it) but only when i ride two handed. Anyone else have this happen? Is the curb chain supposed to be a little more loose than normal? Would that help?

Sounds like you are pulling too much.

It happens if i just barely ask for bend. I ride pretty light handed.

I have bit guards on all of my bits. I'm wondering if that would help you any.

It is really weird because I have used the same bit(but used) on him a lot. Just bought this one and from ride number one the shank wants to go in his mouth...Dropped it out to make sure i had it on right...and eveything looked normal.

Did you compare the two bits to make sure the shanks are the same lenght, are could the shanks on the new bit have more of a cruve to them? That is strange that you are having this problem with the new bit.

I have three Perfect bits and use them every day.  I have never had this problem.  I would guess that there is something defective in the bit.

One thing that could cause it, if your headstall isn't pulled up enough. We see a lot of people that ride our bit with it too low in a horses' mouth. With the ball-joint, it allows the mouthpiece to hang down, so you might need to pull it up a little higher than other bits.

If you have any questions or problems with our bits, please give us a call. Darren is always happy to answer questions about the bits....just give him a call (918-244-1194).
