Several months ago I gave away a mare of mine to a bb who promised her a forever home. A few months later I saw her listed for sale bcause she was too tall. She was 17 hh when they looked at her, its not like she magically grew. Then they consigned her to the Billing horse sale. She no saled there because she had lost weight and had several cuts and a horrible puncture wound to her hock. Luckily a very kind lady in Montana bought her and has been rehabing her since. She does finally have a forever home.
Moral of the story, no matter how good of a story you are told and how many pics their place and their horses they give you it doesn't mean they are honest people who actually care about the horse they are getting from you. If you really want a horse to have a forever home just keep it.
I am so happy that my Silk is safe and loved as much as I love her, I'm so happy that her story didn't end on the kill truck.

And sometimes when you get one back, then find someone who comes 4 hours to your place, gets humped up on, rides him through it, gets off and LOVES on the horse anyway and says - "I LOVE this horse!" You might have found a good home then too.
So glad your girl found a good home. And very sorry she had to go through bad times to get there.

Awww so glad you found him!! My first horses story didnt end so happily ever after. Basically I was lied to about the home he was to have, we had a contract that stated horse would be returned to me and I even agreed to pay back sale price just to make sure he was safe. Needless to say he was sold out took me a few months to track him back down by then it was to late he had died in barn fire
I took comfort in knowing the woman who took him really cared about him. So happy your story ended well!
