I am getting sand put in my arena and want some opinions. Really fine sand or pebbly? I have a guy about five minutes from me that is giving me a great deal on some sand, it is a little pebbly (like the size of little nerds candies maybe a little smaller) :-). Are the pebbles bad or should I go with the finer sand?

if the "sand" is truely classified as pebbles I would say no. generally you want a silt/sand mixture. I would not want even course sand grain size, which comes right before pebble classification starts

I have what's considered concrete sand in my indoor and outside arenas. It is perfectly fine. I have used it for 10 years and never had an issue. However, I found out yesterday that the fine and is $5 a ton cheaper in my area. So I'm using it to add to my outside pen this weekend.

Look at the used sand from when they do cast parts. I have a friend that used it in his cutting pen and loved it. It had been sifted for anything metal and he watered every other day on the really hot days
