I thought our A Streak Of Fling daughter was going to foal last night so I got up & checked on her often. She was just standing around doing nothing. I checked her at 5 am same thing. Hubby goes out to feed just a little later & her baby is up sucking... now I like them that way it's a lot less stressful than watching them have a foal & the foal trying to stand, but geez after I spent all night with her you would have of at least thought she would have let me find it. Here she is ( sorry not a great photo ) Bay roan filly no white markings

I was on foal watch one night.. we had an office over the barn and had cameras in the mare's stall. I watched the owner look in on her before going to bed for the night and as he left the barn, she stuck her head out the door and listened for him walking down the driveway. As SOON as he was out of earshot she laid down and started pushing. She had the foal out before he got to the house.
Them mares are sneaky!!

Yep, I stayed up until about 5 with a mare one time, hubb got up at 5:30 and came in to wake me saying he thought the baby got into the wrong field (the earlier born foal). Nope.
We checked on one all night last night. She was dropping milk, pacing and acting generally uncomfortable until my husband checked her at five. No baby and she was calm and relaxed. At 7 she and her stall mate were looking at me with the "you're bringing our feed aren't you?" look.
