A friend has a trophy saddle that was awarded to the 1929 Pendleton Rodeo Roping champion - we're interested to know who won it and had the saddle originally.  Anybody have any idea how to find that information?  Thanks for any direction you can offer.

Did you try googling it? Interestingly that was the rodeo that lady bronc rider Bonnie McCarrol was killed and they stopped letting the ladies compete after that.

I would suggest contacting the Pendleton Rodeo committee.  They would have past records and might be very interested in the saddle

Thanks CYA Ranch!  Will try that.  It's a wonderful saddle and won't be for sale at any price, but we're interested in knowing more about it's history.

Thanks!  I thought it might have been him, since I read somewhere that he was the 1929 All Around Champion at Pendleton.  We're putting together a neat story about that saddle - I appreciate the responses!

Still contact the Pendleton RoundUp office. THey probably have lots of info on Dick Truitt.

http://www.pendletonroundup.com/

They should have some good info on Mr Truitt, as he was inducted into the PRU Hall of Fame in 1997.

I know the saddle isn't for sale, but they should make sure that it is taken care of in case something happens. Will it to the PRU Hall of Fame, National Cowboy Hall of Fame, PRCA HOF, or something like that...
