| Alright sorry last saddle post! :) Someone suggested to me getting a custom saddle built (I have a wide hard to fit horse) and they recommended G Bar G. I have not heard of them and was just looking at some of their saddles on their website. Anyone have any experience with them? Likes? Dislikes?

| Awesome! Do they look nice in person? Is the leather good? |

| I haven't had any experience with the barrel saddle tree but I can tell you that their bronc saddles and stock saddles are very nicely built.
If you are looking at custom saddles check out Trent Ward Saddlery. I bought a used barrel saddle by them by pictures and description alone and I was not disappointed! I have a mare that is very wide in her shoulder and wither area and my saddle fits her wonderfully. |

I have seen the rope saddles, barrel saddles and bronc saddles in person and they are good quality. |

| Funny you should mention that I have a call into Trent Ward regarding saddles as well. I like hearing good things about both custom makers! :) |

Location: NE Wyoming | They are great saddles! Both my husand and I have saddles from Dennis, and my husband always used his bronc saddles when he was still riding bucking horses. Good quality American tanned leather and solid hardware! |

| My friend just had one made and she really likes it. So does her husband … they train so they need a pretty solid saddle that keeps you where you're supposed to be. |

Location: South Dakota | My husband has one and we can't say enough good about them. They are super comfortable and secure and really well built. I was talking to him at the stock show about the barrel saddles. He's put a lot of thought in to how they are made. It was very interesting. I'm saving up for a barrel saddle. |

Location: MN | I was wondering if anyone else on here since the original post has had any experience with this brand? I actually just got off the phone with Jane Melby who helped give input and thought into the barrel racing saddle and she is the one that turned me onto this brand. I also talked to Dennis the maker and he has very interesting opinions on gullet size and such |

Location: North Dakota | I am saving my pennies for one. I had a few friends suggest them and I sat in one at the BHSS a couple weeks ago and oh my! Talk about a nice feel just sitting on the stand! I am a little picky about how my saddles ride and this saddle felt like it was already well broke in. I am one that cannot stand a Pozzi, Crown C, etc. I love my Coats, would love to have a Stoney but when I sat in that G-G saddle I have decided I will save about $2500 and go with one of them instead of the Stoney. |

Location: Wyoming | Dennis is very very particular about his saddles and does lots of studying and research. He only uses the highest quality material in the saddles and everyone is handmade from front to back. We have saddles here on the ranch that he made that have endured tons of ranch work for 20 years and still holding up great. I love the feel of the barrel saddle and plan on getting one. |

| Just a quick update for those wondering, ended up ordering a saddle and got it last June, absolutely love it! Sits your right without trapping you in and can get up out of your saddle easily. Dennis is great to deal with and my saddle turned out perfect! They are very well made saddles and worth the money! I don't think they weigh much more than 20ish lbs. I am tiny and have problems saddling taller horses with any saddle and this one is super easy to carry around! |

Awesome! I know when I sat in that one at the BHSS it felt as though it was made for me. My legs were right where they should be...I did not feel like I was being forced forward or backward. It just felt perfect. |

| I recently rode a G Bar G barrel saddle and loved it. It sat me naturally in just the right place, very well made saddle also. I would like to have one. |

Location: Oregon | A friend of mine got a G-G stock saddle a few years ago, and its been her main go-to saddle for almost all her horses when working. Racing she usually uses a different barrel saddle. Recently she ordered one of the G-G barrel saddles and it has basically replaced all of her other barrel saddles. I've been able to ride in both, and while I normally HATE slick seat saddles, I LOVED her stock saddle and LOVE her barrel saddle even more!!! She said that he shapes the seats a little differently if it is going to a woman to make it more comfortable for us to ride in. That being said, I'm working on saving my pennies to buy one!! |

I realize this is an old thread by now, but I was just at one of Jane's clinics this weekend. She mentioned that Dennis is working on another tree for the barrel saddles right now that will be a wider fit. Sounds like he's going to build a couple test models and see if any tweaks need to be made before he starts taking orders for them. |
