Felt so smooth that it seemed faster! Great feeling. Although started a debate. I shortened his stride a little on the early side (as I was taught to do with green horses) and certain family members think that sence I have been working him for over a year ( on and off due to school) I should have him a little faster and not safety up so much. Do to the inconsistency in how much I have ridden him I completely disagree.
Side note: we ran a 20.6 on a standard IMO I think that's alright.

I have had clinicians tell me that once the horse starts running faster then I may need to back off my rate point.
For my colts my rate point is about when their nose gets to the barrel, generally when they start running hard to their barrel I will back it up to a stride before the barrel.
