Location: ohio-in my own little world with pretty ponies :) | Speaking of all this bad weather it has me thinking. We are "most likely" moving in a home without a basement and this area is prone to get hit harder in storms than where I live now. There is no real central area in the home without a window or a safer room to go in. Where do you guys without a basement go during bad weather? |

Location: Kentucky | If you don't have an interior room with no windows, then head for the bathtub. If you can get enough warning, I'd book it to a neighbor with a basement. |

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | Our stair case is reinforced, with a closet underneath. I'm sure it wouldn't survive a really bad hit, but it's better than nothing. |

This is all in my house that is not on an exterior wall, or have windows too.. but my luck, the stairs would just fall down on my head! LOL!

Location: North Dakota | A few years back my husband left for a conference in GA, thus I was home alone. Similar to the predictions of the bad weather down south, the "Weather People" were forecasting nasty storms for my area that night. We have a walkout basement and lots of windows, so I've huddled in a corner with my dogs, covered up with a blanket, stuffed my ID in my sock, put a wad of cash in the other, and prayed like crazy for my safety. Lucky for me the tornado passed a couple miles to the south of us, but holy smoly was it scary. |

| Go find a neighbor with a storm shelter and ask them if you guys can join them in cases of severe weather. We have a cellar and both our neighbors, to the east and west of us, come to our house in cases of bad weather. The news stations here in OK are great about warnings and if it's looking like we could possible have one they come over until the tornado warnings are cancelled. if no luck with neighbors, bathtub, or closet that is nearest the center of the house. |

Location: ND--it snows, it floods, it snows, it floods | We are currently planning on building on a crawl space and will have a reinforced area in the garage incase of inclement weather. If you are buying look at putting in either an above or belowe ground storm shelter in the near future just for peace of mind. |

Location: Texas | We are in a mobile home, this is the last place I want to be in a tornado. My aunt lives in my mom's rent house behind us and she has a storm shelter that my grandpa had put in years ago. We go there if it gets bad. If we didn't have that option we would go to the church. They have a storm shelter for people to use. Maybe you have a church or other place nearby that opens it's doors for people to come during bad weather?
We will be putting in a storm shelter eventually, but those are our options for now. |

| They advertise the above ground here in Okla every year. I've lived here all my life with no shelter and survived. Many tornados have come and gone. Survived the Moore tornado, Catoosa etc without incident. I would get in an above ground any day if I had one. Better than nothing I suppose.
My new house is bsck down East of OKC and within a few miles they had a bad one come through here last year. Shelter looks better the older I get lol |

So this was the next best thing :) Our "safe" rooms are the master bathroom, 1 spare bedroom, and the laundry room, so we have options. All three of those in at the back of the house so only 2 feet of wall is above ground with small basement like windows. |

| We ordered a storm shelter for $3800 a week ago. Includes installation. Near Decatur Texas. It is concrete. That other stuff cracks. |

| In the yard by our gate. Will be able to get to it from garage or back door. My old dog would have a hard time getting down the stairs into it so we are going to get a slide to get her down in it. She is too big to carry. Will have condition the dogs to convince them it is a good place to be. Bacon! |

Not only does that sound safe but I love the pictures I have seen of your house, it is beautiful. I know you talk about moving some day but I would have to say it would be hard for me cause I just love your house. |
