Location: Southeast, Texas | As I was grooming horses the other day, I got to thinking about each of the horses that currently stand in my pasture... Most of them were someone else's "throw aways." [=
Who do you have?
Are they from "well known" lines?
How did you end up with them?
Where did they come from?
My "throw away" crew-
Cache is my BHW Dog Pound pick up. She is my main barrel horse, and one that will never leave my barn! [= She is by Zippy Zevi Dasher out of Jolene's Finality. She came from a fellow BB in Oklahoma after she decided they just didn't get along, at all.
Three was surrendered to us after being dropped off for rehab when his owner decided that his issues were just going to be too much to maintain. He is by El Scorch out of Cash That Shines.
B was a cheap pick up. As a three year old she was purchased to be the main mount for a 10 year old girl. After a few spills, the mom wrote her off as spooky and wanted her gone. She is by Rakin In The Cash out of Becky's Vital. She is doing great on the pattern here, and will hopefully be entering this summer!
Pistol is our most recent rescue case. We were asked to take him in by my hairdresser when he admitted that his parents were unable to care for him properly. We found him on a dog runner in a 6x10 chain link back yard. He was living in constant mud from the washing machine drain off. He is now happily residing on 40 acres of pasture. [= He is grade.
The others.. That we picked-
Cash is our three year old cutting bred filly. She was a anniversary gift from my husband. (Great gift!) She is by Haidas Gotta Gun out of Marty Mardi Gras.
Jewel is our daughters barrel horse. Madison found her, and picked her out all on her own. She was previously used for western pleasure, hunt seat, and shown over jumps. She is now the proud mount and secret keeper for a nine year old. She is by Zanza Diamond Dandy out of AK Diamond Girl.
Thunder is a 30++ year old Shetland that has taught all our kids to ride. [= He is worth his weight in gold! He's currently the babysitter and pasture buddy to our yearling colt.
Dirty is our yearling colt. We "lucked" into Dirty. In January we lost our broodmare who was already paid in full to breed to Lead The Field. Leader's owner went above and beyond to help us after we lost Jolene. Dirty is the product of that. He is by Lead The Field out of Betterndolly. He is our Futurity hopeful.

Location: ohio-in my own little world with pretty ponies :) | Shorty--his daddy is Leaders Luck by Special effort. I got him as a Christmas gift when I was 12. Now he is just an absolutely gorgeous pasture pet.
Kate--grade mare. She came from last chance corral after being taken there after being born in Kentucky to a racing mare..she is slightly pigeon toed so they took her there. Paid nearly nothing for her as a dead broke 3 year old and she is a killer barrel horse and my main mount.
Hemi--got him from my Amish blacksmith. He got him as payment for grain for his other horses. He was scrawny, skinny 3 year old and has a heart of gold. He will start running this year and I really think he has "IT". His daddy is Perkin chief by dash for perks. And his momma is a great granddaughter of special effort. My chiro ran his momma hammydowns and she was one of the best around here.
Rosie--paid a whopping $200 for a 12 hand pony that is worth her weight in gold to us as she trots my nieces and nephews around the barrels and takes them wherever they wanna go.
Penny--large paint pony we got at an auction. My dad thought she was cute and started the bid on her. Little did he know no one else was gonna bid so we ended up with her. I trail ride her and am working her for awhile and she will be nephews step up next year.

     Location: Texas | We have:
Dusty- the 31 year old shetland pony gelding. We bought him as a 17 year old.
Doc O Flits Honor- 1995 Jet of Honor daughter out of cow bred mare. She's my sister's #1 horse and I wish she weren't 19 this year. We bought her as a 17 YO
This Guy Stolit- 2013 colt by First Down French out of Bright Miles, my Stoli mare. He's the first horse I have "created" from picking the stud to breeding the mare, etc...
Solid Magic Rock- 2011 filly by Rock Solid Jess out of First Tinkerberbell by FDD. she is my futurity prospect for now. My friend bid on her for me at Heritage place and brought her home.
"Goose" 2010 AQHA filly. she is my mom's horse and I haven't yet looked at her papers… oops. She's a nice cow bred mare
Reckless Lucy- 2001 mare by Reckless Dash X Leavem Lucille X BA75. She came from Dena Kirkpatrick then a family in TX, then I got her. I love this mare so much!
"Lulu"- 2014 filly by First Down French X Reckless Lucy. She's so freaking cute!
Miss Rare Buds- 2003 mare by Strawflyin Buds X Rare Rabbit by Rare Form. She's my craigslist dream horse
Ole Rare Hope- 1999 mare by Rare Bar out of a daughter of The Ole Man. 2010 NBHA TX state 1D champion with previous owner. My sister is trying to get with her now, otherwise we may breed her
Bright Miles- 2005 mare by Stoli out of Shiney Miles by Magical Mile. She's my resident professional broodie
Stol Yo Fame (pending)- 2014 colt by Firewater Ta Fame X Bright Miles. He's a little brat! I love him. Super personable
Except for the horses that were born here, and the shetland pony, everything that we have now was found by some sort of "Fate" type happening. We weren't really looking for any of them when the opportunity came up. It is definitely a blessing to own the mares we have now, especially "Flit" "Lucy" and "Hope," who have more than proved their success in the arena.

Location: So. Cali. | We also house throw aways for the most part. My current personal horses...
Cowboy, he'll be 16 this month. Got him as a 4yr old who had been handed around from auction to wanna be trainers from OK back to CA and had a pretty mean buck and rear when I got him. Threw me the second day I had him, gave me whip lash my first year running him. Been the best dang teacher I couldve ever asked for. Retired now, not enjoying it, but it's whats best for him.

Tilly was my first 'buy for bloodlines' horse. She was no longer showing promise at the track so an exerciser at Los Al was helping the trainer sell her. I didnt want a mare, but the girl insisted I come look at this one. Literally all I got to do was pet her to make my decision, but it was an easy one. Havnt regretted it since, 5yrs later.

Enzo, our first born and raised ourselves. Came from parents I hand picked based off bloodlines, both were well bred but just backyard pets most thier lives, not proven, never given much of a chance (flame away). Coming 4 this month, I am very happy with my end result from my two selected 'rejects'.

Most recent is Rosie. She's an 8 yr old well bred quarter mare, only 2 outs on the track when she was younger. Didnt make the cut and was kicked out to pasture for almost 4yrs and forgotten about for the most part. Doing very well under saddle, extremely willing to please.

Chesney, my moms grade quarter gelding. Was her trail horse until he decided he was extremely barn sour and started coming home with out without a rider. Been a pet the last 2years. Anyone want a pasture weanling babysitter? He'd be great at it!

Mitch, a retired pony horse from Los Al. Got hurt during duty one day and needed some time off, not worth feeding during the time off so he needed to find a home asap. He's fine now and a nice occasional trail horse.

Location: Buffalo, Wyoming | Right now we have:
Gracie: She was a friend of ours daughters barrel horse. The daughter was in a car accident that killed her. They asked if I would ride her, get her in shape and get her sold for them. The first time I rode her I knew i had to have her. She is 17 this year and may have made her last run last July. I am hoping I can bring her back, if not she will stay with us forever and be my mountain horse and teach kids to ride if I ever have any. http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/sugar+cookie+dough
Mare/Chick: She is my SO's calf horse. We picked her up as a 3 year old when she was culled out from the cutters. First week we had her she tried to cut her hind foot off. He would have put her down but I talked him into seeing what would happen. Almost 5 years later she is going strong and is a spit fire. There are days I wish I had never seen her and then there are days she is the best horse in the world. As long as she has a job she is great. Awesome horse in the mountains. http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/better+b+good+yl
Richard: This is a gelding I bought in 2011 out of desperation. I was sick of going to ropings and not having anything to ride. He was the first horse I rode while looking and just took him. He had been off for 2 years so I just legged him up for the next few months. He has been hit or miss when it comes to running barrels for the last couple of years. I was to the point I almost gave him away but no one would take him. Now I see the reasoning behind it, he is making a JAM UP horse now. He is spooky as all get out but we have learned to trust each other and it would take a lot of money to get him away from me right now. http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/lets+buck+up
Special: When we bought her we were looking for a futurity horse, not a 6 year old green broke mare. She was bought as a 3 year old to go into the previous owners broodmare band. The stud they had ended up passing away and their other stud was bred to similar to breed her to. She had 60 days as a 3 year old with a cutting horse guy and then just turned out. I didn't get to ride her much last year but she has really turned into a nice horse this year. Can't wait to get shoes on her and start her on the pattern. http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/im+still+special

Whisper (One Rare One) is by Rare Jet Extremes out of a friends barrel mare who has a pretty good set of papers. ( 2X -Tiny Watch,Dash for Cash) He was given to us by a friend who was moving to Texas with a 4 horse trailer and had 5 horses. They didn't want to have to come back and were having no luck selling him. She knew he'd have a good home and be used to his potential.

Location: NC | Jet (jet two mccue)- got him 10 + yrs ago. Was green knew how to w/t/c and buck. Was supposed to been a girls sisters english horse. Think she rode him 2x then he sat for a good 6 months till i was told to go ride him. Bucked the entire time i loped him but i fell in love. Leased him 6 months then bought him. Not the fastest horse out there but has a heart of gold. Does not have a slow button until you turn him to a set of can. Will fly to first then slow lope 2nd and 3rd and run home. Trail rides anywhere and have swam him in the bay. He became my moms last year and she runs him. Brings home checks in senior on him
trixie (bnf frenchgoldengirl) - wanted a younger prospect and went to a well known trainer tried a few and liked her. Shes out of frenchmans feature by a broodmare that has just been a broodmare. She usually is the complete opposite of jet. Slow in arena till you turn to run. Def has a mind on her..
Wish i had one ore but till we own our own bigger piece of property 2 is enough.

| This is fun! I have:
Dusty - he is my once in a lifetime horse. He is grade, can be an absolute terror and will crash second like nobody's business, but I'd never get rid of him. I actually had an offer for him at a barrel race...immediately after hitting second AND third (guy wanted to rope off him)...and turned it down. His dam and granddam are both mares my mom owned (dam is Shasta Doll Evans, granddam is Sunrise Dolly. Mom took her senior pictures with the granddam, and I took mine with Dusty). His sire is a loud black and white tobiano Paint stud a family friend had for a while, and wanted to see what kind of colts the stud would throw. We ended up with a black colt with a white stripe down his face! He's the one in my avatar.
Sting - bred similarly to Dusty, but a different stud. Sting is out of Dusty's granddam. He is one of the most patient horses in the world, and is absolutely adorable! He is black as well, with a big white star that looks like a stingray. His mane has grown a TON of white hairs, so it is almost silver now, while his body is still black. I used him as a flag horse last summer, and I think I'll haul him to a couple barrel races this year...heck, he might pull a check in the 4D!
Murphy - Murphy was an oopsie baby. The stud escaped while Mom and I were out of town once, got in with ALL the other horses, and the darn Appendix mare stuck even after a shot of Lutalyse! He's 5 this year, and I'm taking it slow with him. He gets a little overwhelmed sometimes, but he is an absolute sweetheart!
Rowdy - Rowdy is actually the stud that escaped and made Murphy. He is no longer a stud! He's turning out to be a fabulous gelding. He is about as cow bred as they come, so it'll be interesting to see if he has speed. He has an absolutely enormous stride though! He can be a pill sometimes. The sucker can BUCK!
That's my bunch of misfits! Mom has a couple broodmares hanging out too, and there's a goat and a donkey that hang around as well. It's quite the little zoo!

Location: MT | Two of ours are paints that ain't and one is a qh.
Tank (grade paint) - Tank was trained by one of my heroes, Miss Vi Moltich. A friend of mine bought him when he was 6 and ran him. After 5 years or so she sold him to my sister. I then bought him from my sister in 2008 and ran him in ammy rodeos and NBHA. In 2011, I sold him to some good friends to be a ladder horse for their daughter. He was great for her and she has since moved onto a faster, younger horse. So I bought him back a couple months ago! He has quite the fan club and is such a nice broke broke broke honest gentleman of a horse. I'm worried my time left with him is shorter than I thought it would be, he was diagnosed with a heart murmur yesterday which is contributing to decreased kidney function. So go give your golden oldies a hug, they deserve it!
Jet (APHA) - We bought Jetty Jet in July of 2012. He's 8 this spring. I didn't have much trouble talking my husband into him...they (his uncle and him) had both Jet's sire and dam, and grandsires/granddams. They had to sell out when his uncle had health issues. They had bred Jet's dam and then she was sold. It's kind of a wild story because my husband never thought he'd see any of those horses again and here we find one 4 miles away from our house in MT. His uncle lived in WY. My husband used to have a half-brother (same dam) to him that was a studhorse. Anyway, he really doesn't have a particular job yet but we plan on doing lots of mountain riding with him this summer and putting him on the barrels. He's by PasamonteCelebration and out of a My Boy Skip daughter. http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/jets+celebration
Clint (AQHA) - Clint came straight off the Pitzer Ranch as a 3yo. He's got number brands on both butt cheeks. He's big (16.2) and is a good looking well-built work all day bugger. He was my husband's ranch horse when he was still on a ranch. He's cowy as they come and super big, athletic and scary fast. He's by Quioxotes Mim out of a Mr Baron Red daughter. http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/quixotes+dell+red

Charlie he's a son of Duck Dance out of a DTF mare. He my runner he is who I take to the big pens.
Tess is a halter reject. Shes one of the 2 on my first string team. She's 100% foundation bred. She goes back to Sunny Dee Bar and The Investor. She's just came back last week after bending off a year due to injury and her fist show she finished in the 2D with over 400 horses.
Cody is my cutting reject. She has just a bunch of old cow breeding. I got her when she was 5m old and she's 7 this year. She broke and patterned a lot later than most horses because at 7yrs old she barely is 14hh But she's built like a tank. She's not quit there but she's nipping at Tess's heels.
Baby Bug is my work in progress horse. He's a son of Frwnchmans Furry and his dam is OU Mooner Sooner she's a own daughter of Martha Six Moons.
And last is Angel my brood mare. She's a daughter of Hadias Little Pep. Currently being bred to a son of Bully's on Fire.

First we have a mare named Fred ... http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/xo+skips+freda - nothing spectacular. She was a cheap 5 yo that was barely broke when I picked her up to use as my own daily rider to work with, bring along how I wished, and work the 800 cow/calf pairs my ex fiance had at the time. Well since then ... she has turned into one heck of a tie down horse, a money earning mounted shooting horse, a money earning sorting horse, a baby sitter, a decent little barrel horse, and an all around awesome lil mare to have. She is pretty darn close to my once in a life timer if for no other purpose than what I have learned while training her - aka - nothing came the easy way! LOL.
Second is the up and comer filly - JJ ... http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/ar+erin - Bred out the wazoo for working cow horse, cutting, reining ... she is out of two money earning parents (cutting) from NE that also are used on a cattle ranch. I bought her to flip and turn at the Salina Farmers and Ranchers futurity. Well, that backfired cause I fell in love with her and plan to keep her for myself. She is WICKED fast and cat quick. I have put about 10 rides on her and she heads to a cutting trainer here this summer ... hopefully make a lil cutter out of her for myself to work into that sport too.

Am I really the Weirdo?

Location: Kansas | Of the 5 horses my family members & I own, 3 were rejects or rescues at some point, and a 4th came from the sale barn. Chance is the only one we paid over $750 for. Joker is my sale barn mutt. Bought him as an unbroke 2 year old for $300. Best $300 I ever spent. He's now 21 and still a solid 2D horse at local shows. Ran in the top of the 3D both runs in the open at Lincoln. He's also a really good trail horse and anytime I get the itch to tie goats, he's my horse of choice. Diamond is a 20 year old grade mare that we got for a few hundred bucks just to get her out of a bad situation. The people we bought her from got her because their buddy moved and said "hey there's a horse in that pasture, if you want it, go get it." They had her for a year or so and just fed her apples occasionally. I don't think they ever rode her. We've had her for 13 years now and I competed on her for a few years at NBHAs and local horse shows. She's now retired from running barrels but my brother & sister-in-law lead their nieces and nephews around on her sometimes and she may get to go be their pasture pet/occasional trail horse in the fall. Rachel has her fingers crossed that they can get another horse to go with her, and I bet she'll get Kyle talked into it by then.
Clifford had failed at two careers before he found me, but I think he's going to end up being a heck of a nice barrel horse. He sucked it up on the track (literally.....his best speed index was a 72, which seems insane given how fast he is coming off the third barrel) and then they tried to make him a bulldogging horse but he didn't like waiting in the box and taking off on command. He came home with me in November 2012 and in May 2013 won his first 1D buckle. We've definitely had our share of struggles, but 2014 got off to a pretty good start and I'm hopeful we can crack into the rodeo money later this year. He definitely has a fan club - starting with his previous owner the bulldogger and his breeder, who still has his full brother standing at stud.
Streak was rescued by TurnLane last year and she did all the hard work. I'm getting to have the fun of teaching him to be a barrel horse, though we are off to a kind of slow start because I'm trying to lay a better foundation than my past horses have gotten. Each one gets a better early education than the previous one since I am still learning how to train. He's showing some real promise, though even if he only makes a 3D or 4D horse, I'll be happy. My main goal for this year is to have him cruising a solid enough pattern for my youngest brother to ride him at the county fair (it's a really small horse show and a 4D time can win their barrels class, plus Brett says that he won't look silly on Streak....Brett is 6-4 and Streak is a legit 16 hands) in July. In the meantime, he's often found hanging out with Clifford pre-run to exert a calming influence.

I took him originally as a project for a very close family friend. I decided to retire my first horse with her due to lameness, and she had just bought this guy. It wasn't working out...he was bucking her off quite a lot... he was a 4 or 5 yo at the time and just needed some wet saddle blankets. He wasn't bred for barrels, but he was sure athletic enough! He took to barrels pretty easy and I ran him in 4H and local stuff for a couple years... then college, work, and house left me basically trail riding and some english and jumping for about 6 years. I started running him again 2 seasons ago, so this will be our third year back... He's solid 3D at larger shows in my area and locally we have been all over from 1-3D. He's just a great horse and a lifer with me. My first ever "real" barrel horse... I've had him over 10 years now. :)

1st picture (chillin without a saddle). Bert, my BLM find that you guys helped me decide to man up and adopt. I've got not quite 30 days on him and he is amazing, my equine soul mate and a closet athlete.
2nd and 3rd pictures (riding). Gunner! http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/rem+frecs+nu+cash this is the best horse we've ever had. In a past life he was my open reiner, we got bored after a few years and switched to barrels lol he's my everything my lesson horse my horse I jump on when I just need to ride and get away, my good barrel horse, my snuggle buddy, you name it!
4th picture (chillin with a saddle) Redman http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/topsails+redman my namesake on this board. He's my navicular baby. I bought him as a barrel prospect after watching him move and run and seeing how athletic he was. God had other plans for us I guess because now he's my pasture pet/trail buddy until I can no longer keep him comfortable.

Location: Minnesota | I have three:
First horse - Vinny. He's a 15.2 hh grade Morgan/Friesian. He's 19 this year. He was my rescue horse and my first horse. He's really had some tough times and it showed when I first got him. He had no trust for people and our first ride together couldn't of been worse but something told me I needed him and the rest is history. He's taught me a lot and I'm very greatful for him, even when he pulls his diva shenanigans. He will never leave my place.
Second horse - Jetta. She's a 15.3 hh reg. QH. She's 23 this year. I'll probably never own another horse bred as close to Jet Deck as she is. Jet Deck happens to be my favorite stallion so it was icing on the cake. I got her from a BB as a pasture buddy for Vinny. Sadly I've never rode Jetta. She's not sound enough for riding(I knew that before getting her). She was diagnosed with Navicular last fall. She's a sweet girl and will always stay with me.
Third horse - Boston. She's a solid 15.3 hh reg. QH. She turned 13 yesterday. I got her 10 months ago. She's as solid minded as they come. She takes everything in stride and really a horse I can count on. She knows barrels and poles and I'm hoping once I get her hooves back to where they should be we can go to some small local races.

| We have 4 right now
Jazz 13 yr old grade QH mare and the queen of the place. She knows it and my husband knows it. She's been by my side through a lot. Including a stroke at 24. She was my therapy when no one would help me. I've done so much with her. She's a solid 4D horse and that's ok. We've won a lot together. Shes no longer running barrels because of a stifle problem but she'll never leave my house. I love her.
Astreakindashoffire "Fire" shes my princess :) I delivered this mare 8 yrs ago. Im so incredibly proud of her its ridiculous. LOL We are still figuring it out but have hit the 2D against some nice horses locally. We bounce around from the 3D to the 2D to the 4D. Its a work in progress. Shes my sweetheart. I would own a million other Streakin Six X FWF crosses any day.
Beunos Majic King "Wilbur" This poor gelding came to me in January. Hes 13 and has had ATLEAST 15 owners that I can track down. Hes been passed around and thrown away. Starved, brought back then ran through a sale. My friend ended up with him and couldn't get along with him. SO I bought him. Hes a challenge. Hes a test but dang it hes going to be a jam up horse. Wilbur is starting to trust me and actually has a neat personality. Right now he's the only boy in the pasture in his harem of mares.
Belle- My husbands mare a friend gave her. She is grade but is 88% foundation bred. Her breeder never sent in papers. Its sad really. She was 4 and only halter broke when we acquired her. We sent her to a trainer for 45 days then brought her home. She takes care of him and he loves her so it all works out. I don't care for her but shes a good looking mare.
WHEW Im glad to be down to 4! That's ALOT!!!!

Location: MT | Oh Gosh! Our barn is beyond full. I will just list the 6 that are my personal "stand outs" in the herd... I 3 were bought at auction because I stumbled across them there, and 3 were bought because I saw their ads on the internet and "just had to have them." :-)
1. "Truckie" - http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/smoken+feature+yl - 8 yo QH mare. She is amazing! I can't even begin to come up with the words that describe how I feel about her. I just see her in the pasture and my heart wells up. Bought her at auction, but she is one of the reasons I was at the auction. The neighbors have dubbed her "Speedy." Gorgeous, gritty, fun, fast....
2. "Cat" -http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/tivs+catalena - 10 yo QH mare. I have had her since she was a coming 3 yo. She is about as versatile as they come. Ask her to do it and she will. She wants to please. Another one that I just look at and get those warm feelings inside. Love her to pieces. First horse I bought because I saw her ad on the internet.
3. "Piper" - http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/chillin+yawl - 3 yo QH mare. She is the newest addition to my horse family. Bought her over the internet without making a trip to see her "in person" first (have never done that before). She traveled from TX and arrived in MT on a cold, dark, snowy January night. So far I am thrilled with her. She has a great mind, is very athletic, and a real sweet heart.
4. "Izzie" - http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/cm+dynamites+ladybug - 4 yo QH mare. She is the mare in my profile photo... pictured there as a yearling. You couldn't find a horse that profiles any better. Wowza! Cute as all get out and built like an athlete. Very sweet. Another internet find. She will take some time and patience, but she will be a good one.
5. "Piney" - http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/saltys+tuff+texan - 10 yo QH gelding. I tend to be more of a mare fan, but Piney has earned his place with us. He is a gentle giant. He stands 16.2-16.3 hh and packs my 11 year old daughter everywhere. He was bought at auction because he was a steal of a deal. We had other plans for him... rope or barrel horse, but he fit another purpose better once we got him home. He loves being a little girl's horse and seems to know how important it is to be her trusted care taker.
6. "Bubbles - 12 yo grade mare. This little horse has a bundle of attitude, but is my 10 year old daughters main mount. Miss Bubbles packs that girl where ever she is asked to go. She puts up with whatever we throw her way. Bought her at auction for a song. She was a substitute horse and not cataloged. What a find! She is the color of a Hershey candy bar with a flaxen mane and tail. Turns heads where ever we haul her.
We have 8 more... all geldings that are used as rope/ranch horses (I may steal a couple of them from hubby to start on barrels... the Firewater Flit and PC Frenchmans Mark geldings). lol

Location: Utah | I have a horse addiction, lol. I have a little mix of horses but.... as I look down my stall row I have:
My Competition Horses:
My 5 year old Feature Mr Jess daughter. She was offered to me under special circumstances because of the way that I had ridden and treated another of the breeder's horses. She is super talented, but is slower maturing right now. http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/sister+sophronia
My 8 Year old The Down Side X Judge Cash. Shorty was a horse who has his own issues. He was my brother in law's and we worked a trade deal for a little horse that was supposed to be my husband's next horse. I butted heads with him the first year, but he has turned into such a blessing for me. http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/headrush
My 18 year old colt, lol. He is my old campaigner who has come back from some horrible injuries. My in law's raised him and he was part of my "wedding present", he will be here until he passes. http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/hemps+red+wolf
Then My Broodies:
My Streakin La Jolla mare who suffered a career ending injury. She was bread by the same person as my Feature mare. She is a race winner, 99SI and was working on the barrels until she slab fractured a knee. She has a huge heart that I hope she passes on her babies. http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/jc+a+mormon+girl
My Judge Cash mare. When my 8 year old gelding started to work, I went in search of a filly out of his mother. I found one is owned by a board buddy (4n Horses that wasn't for sale) & one who had been matched raced and they didn't like the amount I was willing to pay for her. Anyways to make a long story short, I had send a letter to the owner of the mare (via AQHA records) and the day after the deal fell through on his sister, I got a call offering me the mare. I jumped on it and drove 13 hours to get her. When I got there, she was nothing more than a bag of bones. She was supposed to be in foal, but I wasn't sure how she could be as poor as she was. My husband gave me the really we are loading her look, but I couldn't leave her there. She came home with me and confirmed in foal yesterday. (mother to my 8 year old & full sister to the fastest Judge mare Heather Has the Cash) http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/silver+replicate
Then I have my baby, who is a week old out of my Streakin La Jolla mare and by Two for the Dough http://www.southwestdesertclassic.com/id29.htm
I also just confirmed my Judge mare in foal to him as well.
We also have my husband's riding horse and my little boy's mini.

| I can't post pictures and have too many to list a few of my specials are as follows
A 6 yr old mare by Dashing Cleat out of a Masters Hand mare. She is the last foal crop by dashing cleat and the last mare CJ had
A 14 yr old mare by Judge Cash out of a Major Meyers mare. She is broodmare sound and I got her for 500 dollars, I have 2 foals another on the way
A 4 yr old mare by Firewater Twist out of a foundation mare, She is definitely my challenge
A 7 yr old mare by Perfect Possibility by FDD, out of a Kitoease mare, my trainer told me I needed to buy this mare, once I seen her papers I did.
A 5 yr old granddaughter of Kitoease and a great granddaughter of Easy Jet, I traded a no name saddle for her, she is turning out to be quite the horse. After thousands of dollars spent on her training
A 2 yr old filly by PC Frenchmans Hayday, out of a Hancock mare I bought her sight unseen as the price I couldn't pass up, and I am glad I did
A 3 yr old granddaughter of Dash Ta Fame, sadly she is pony size, she might make 14 hands
A 7 yr old grandson of Frenchmans Guy who someone convinced my mother to convince me I needed this horse, I have had nothing but trouble with him soundness. Vet is saying all his issues stem from malnourishment before the age of two, I got him as a 3 yr old. He may end up being a very expensive trail horse, atleast he is a sweety.
And my favorite animal in my pasture is my mini donkey he is black I bought him at the auction for 15 dollars. He never grew, he is smaller then my lab. Sometimes he thinks he is a dog, he packs sticks in his teeth, carries buckets all over the place. He also wants to be a racing donkey, as he will run figure eights in the pasture for no reason, of course I never have my phone with me to video.

| Derby (Meet Me At The Derby) is my 3 yr old. I had sold my last horse and was busy with my career, finishing college, and three kids and competitive distance running was my fill-in. Until my knee exploded. When I woke up from surgery and the surgeon told me I had stage three arthritis x 2 and the damage was terrible ("like a bomb went off in your knee") and I'd never run again, my hubby eased my tears by telling me to go buy a horse. Derby was it. Fresh from the pasture weanling, dragging his lead rope around, I had that *feeling* he was IT. He's by Otro Fracaso (Willy Wanta Dash/Merridoc) and out if a Mesa Farms mare (Pay Days Andy / Mr Master Bug). He was born on Kentucky Derby Day 2011.
Rosie (Maid By Perfection) is our 18 year old. I brought her home on a lease from a friend for my daughter. She prefers Sweetheart, and I love Rosie so she's mine now. :-) She came to us with torn hamstrings so she's 3D/4D but she's so dependable and safe, I can ride her pregnant and still feel safe. She was shown as a working cow horse and went to the Snaffle Bit Futurity. I'll be breeding her to Derby's sire, Otro Fracaso for a 2015 baby. She's a gray paint, double bred Triple Chick.
Sweetheart (It's a Mutt) is 22. He's the rescue I posted about here over a year ago. He was my nieces gymkhana horse, and a darn good one for a lot of years. She went away to college and her dad was to be caring for him. Board was 'too expensive' and so was hay so he brought Sweetheart home and tied him to a redwood tree. No contact with other horses, free movement, or farrier/vet care for several years. When I found out, my hubby was hunting and couldn't be reached. I didn't wait for permission. He's our barn babysitter and the best kids horse ever. He's a Driftwood.

Location: west of East Texas | In order of tenure here:
Bills Sweet Lindy - 24yo mare, home grown, out of the last mare I rode before I graduated college and moved to the 'big city'. When I decided city life wasn't for me, I talked my dad into breeding the retired rodeo horse so that I would have ride in a few years because I was moving to the country. I was frustrated when he chose to breed the old mare to a halter horse. Joke was on him, she came with her mom's ginormous head! She's been anything and everything. She was started at reiner barn, was a brute of a heading horse for several years, switched to barrels at 13yo, playdayed for several years with oldest daughter, made JHSRA State Finals at 19yo, started packing my youngest daughter in 2010, got passed back to me in 2013 when DD2 stepped up.
DJ - ~30yo grade gelding that I had to take in 2006 order to get the horse I wanted from the same owner. Lame in every way but not lame enough and the sucker just won't die. Been feeding him for 8 years now for no reason.
TWS Miss Va Lee Tine - 1992 mare, 4-H show horse deluxe, English or Western, now mostly ridden by visitors. Turned my then 5yo daughter loose on her 6 years ago. Missy packed DD2 through showing and playdaying. Playdays were not fast but gee they sure were pretty. I love hopping on her out in the pasture and executing a perfect horsemanship pattern then hopping down and walking off.
Lark Bar Cadence - 2002 mare, absolutely gorgeous halter/ahowmanship horse. Spent 18 months with Pleasure trainer before they figured out she would rather stand still and look pretty. I bought her for husband horse because she was the tallest buckskin (his request) I could find. I've come close to killing her a couple of times because she is a total B*****.
Runaway - 2007 black and white mini - spoiled child, yard dog, comic relief, pick pocket, lead rope stealer, pasture pet
Geraldine Jewel - 2007 mare, bought her in 2011 for me, current star of the barn. I rode her 4 & 5yo year. DD2 stepped up and claimed her in 2013. DD1 'borrowed' her for High School Rodeo poles this year. Qualified for state in June. She's earning her stripes and all three of us love riding her. This is the Frenchman's Bogie daughter I post about.
Rocknroll Legend - 2009 mare bought to reunite with my first love, reining. Two months at home and I decided she would be my next barrel horse. She's had 6 weeks of barrel training and is exhibitioning about 2.5 seconds off. Wound up tight.
