Location: Somewhere between raising hell and Amazing Grace | I'm a Georgia resident. I live in Missouri. Husband is active duty military so we do not have to change residency every time we PCS (permanent change of station).
So I have a GA license....in Missouri....
And apparently somebody decided they needed my wallet more than me. So now I have no license, no military ID, no photo ID, no CCW, no debit cards, no credit cards, and no wallet.....
Problem is, GA won't issue a replacement unless I'm there in person or I at least know the issue date of my GA license, which I do not.
And Missouri isn't going to just hand me a license without proof I have a current one.....
So what in the world am I supposed to do?
Besides ****ed off that not only is someone so messed up in the head to think they had the right to take it, but because I also am missing out on getting my mare bred to Lions Share of Fame. I was supposed to have her in OK today...... |

Location: Southeast Louisiana | Can you get a new military i.d.? That way, you can get a MO i.d. card. That will prove who you are. You can carry the police report with you, showing your GA driver's license was stolen until you can figure out how to get the replacement. |

Location: Southeast Louisiana | I had mine stolen twice when I lived near the big city... First time, I was lucky, and a neighborhood guy found it while he was cutting grass behind his building. Second time, my truck was broken into. We were able to find it that time by looking in the dumpsters and trash cans within walking distance. A friend at the time was a city policeman. He helped me look for it. And he was right, they just wanted the valuables and threw away the rest. The scum didn't go very far each time, before they stopped and went through my stuff. Of course, there was no money, credit cards, etc. But, I was able to recover my driver's license, phone numbers, pictures, and some sentimental things that were in it. I don't know the circumstances of your theft, but it might be worth a try to recover your driver's license, at least. |

So they really got nothing but a very nice custom made leather wallet. And I got put in a bind with canceling all my cards and not having any photo ID. |

That is the plan but they are closed today, and tomorrow is my only chance to get my mare to OK. 6 hours one way, she came in season yesterday. Bryel said if we miss this week then can bring her back in season in two weeks. Hubby is working a 24 hour shift, gets off at 7am tomorrow.
So we are just going to chance it and leave out when he gets home, I'll drive while he sleeps, pray we don't get stopped, and if we do just tell the honest truth, and then he can drive after that and on the way home. It's either that or forfeit the breeding and try again next year. I'm sure Bryel wouldn't have a problem with me bringing her later but I was already pusing it witha late breeding as it was, and don't really want a June baby.... |

It will help keep you from getting a ticket if you are worried about getting stopped driving without a d.l. It is an official ID. Plus, in your original post, you mentioned that the current state you are in won't give you a driver's license without a form of ID.
It won't help with getting a duplicate GA driver's license, tho.

...my bad. I re-read. U said Missouri won't give you a driver's license without proof that you have a current one. But, I'm sure the official ID would help.

Lost or Stolen License Replacement
Customers may apply for a replacement driver’s license and/or ID card at a local Customer Service Center or online. If you choose to apply online, you will go through an authentication process in order to verify identity. If you wish to apply at a Customer Service Center, you will be required to show proof of identity. The fee online and at a Customer Service Center is $5.00. The following documents will be acceptable proof of identity for a replacement Georgia driver’s license, permit or identification card: - ONE of these documents:
- Original Birth Certificate (hospital certificates are not acceptable);
- Certified copy of Birth Certificate with raised or impressed seal;
- Certified birth registration;
- Certified copy of court records (adoption, name or sex change);
- Certified naturalization documentation;
- Immigration ID card;
- Valid passport (not expired);
- Military ID card;
- Non US Citizens
- Valid foreign passport with valid I-94 card/stamp;

Location: Texas | This doesn't help you now, but in the future photocopy everything in your wallet. I've had mine stolen before. Anytime something changes, I photocopy the front and back of everything in my wallet. That way, I know what numbers to call, etc. to cancel stuff if I need to.

If she can remember the last year she renewed it, it was on her birthday. The only ones in Georgia that are not renewed on their birthday is people who are here legally, but not US citizens.

| My daughter had a similar situation when she was out of state in college. We were able to figure out her Georgia DL # by looking at an old ticket she had received. With this information we were able to apply for the new license online. It seems as though it took awhile to get the physical license and it was mailed to the address on record (her GA address). Try to think creatively as to where you might have the information needed. Good luck!!

| Another thought.... When I go for a Dr's appointment, the receptionist usually asks for my insurance card and my DL. Maybe they might have a copy with your file. It won't hurt to ask.
P.S. - I just checked my GA License and the issue date is not my birthdate. I must have been very proactive for the last renewal. |

I just rechecked too. I typed too fast on my phone. The expiration is always the birthday except for those others here legally. I also wonder if she might have made a copy for something. Might be something we all want to do no matter what state and keep in a safe place. |

Location: home for the winter...what a dumb idea | My civilian military ID had my DL# on it if I remember right....I worked on base and had to drive company truck....I also know the army took copys of both insurance and DL before issueing my permanent stickers for both my car and my truck. The gate MP should have access to that info. Your insurance will have you DL# on the top of your insurance id card. |

We had to drive IA to get a new liscense because they had my picture on file and had to physically see me to give me a new one. Couldnt get my military ID without it. |

| You should still be able to drive to OK. If you get pulled over, just give them your SSN, and they can run your license from that. It has worked for me. (I also live in Missouri.)
ETA: Once you get your cards replaced, I'd scan them and keep an electronic copy on my computer, so I have those numbers available, if needed again.

Location: Somewhere between raising hell and Amazing Grace | This has been nothing but a freaking nightmare! I swear I'm getting a concealed wallet carry pouch now.....
Anyways....Georgia...well...I have a few choice words for GA that I will refrain from repeating yet again.
They REFUSE to help me in any way shape or form unless I show up at DMV in person. I finally threatened them with a lawyer and got my GA DL issue date from them. They are required by law to mail me a new license if I request it even though I am living in Missour, because hubby is active duty. HOWEVER...that takes 4-5 weeks with no option for expedited shipping.
Missouri....absolutely will NOT give me a MO DL unless I have my current DL on me. If I do not have one, I MUST retake the written and driving test like I've never even had a **** license. I know I have only had a license for 17 years, but the nature of my job means I have logged over a million miles of driving.....and the funny thing is with how my luck is...I bet you I would fail the driving test (written) because it's been so long....If I did, I would only laugh....and drink.....
So.....I called MO DMV....I asked them what they do with my GA license when I come in for a MO license (called in randomly without telling them what happened)....they told me they just run the DL number to verify it's valid and current.
So I plan on going into the local DMV tomorrow morning, asking the same question, and if I get the same answer, then I'll hand them the letters showing my DL license and tell them to run the number. Probably wont do any good but I'll prove a point.....
I will also have with me my GA, SC, and PA driving history records. I was going to go back 17 years but you can only go 7.
I cannot get a military ID without a government photo ID. If I can't get a DL tomorrow, I can't take the test until Thursday. So I will either way, or pay for a plain photo ID so I at least have something to carry.
As far as the GA license, I didn't even get it until 12/30/2010 so it was never renewed since it doesn't expire until 2019. The military only has a photo copy of the DL I had on me when I first applied for an ID, which was my SC one.
Talk about a freaking nightmare.....
But my new navy fed card came today. My new USAA will be here soon, my accounts are all linked so I can use the NF for now.
I did get my mare to Oklahoma and had an amazing time with Bryel.
And I am heading out the door to ride my ponies.....so I have a smile despite everything :) |
