Last August my horse was x-rayed and showed navicular. I think he has been for while. He had been off and on lame for a few years. He also had strained some tendons/ligaments and was very lame. He has been off for 10 months and I am thinking about starting to ride him again. He also has thin soles and gets sore because of that. My question is what are your experiences with magnetic bell boots for these types of issues? I am not a believer of the magnets and don't use anything like that so I would like to hear opinions. Thanks.

My mare is thin soled. My Shoer uses a wide shoe that is thick almost like a wedge. I use BOT bell boots. She lives in them. They really help her feet. Increases blood flow. Another thing that is great for feet is the Theraplate. I have treated navicular horses and if really helps. I use it on my mare and it has increased her sole depth and has increased hoof growth

I did not explore too many options with the vet on the navicular because at the time she was more concerned with the tendon/ligament damage and if he would even heal from that. I don't know if that was related to the navicular issue or not or why that happened to him. I was hoping to prevent it again if possible.

I used the PHT bell boots on my navicular mare when I was still running her. It did wonders. I'm a firm believer in the PHT products. A lot of times when their front feet hurt it makes them body sore all over so I also use PHT blankets. I no longer run her as it got too hard to keep her sound and the only farrier that could do that is pretty much retired so she's a mama now. I'm thinking of doing some roping on her this fall or late summer. She still has the attitude and desire to compete. I use Soft Rides on her too.

Thank you for your replies. This horse is pretty special because we raised him and he is the last one we raised that I am riding. He is also only 14 so I don't want to just give up on him but I do have a lot of money into him already.

I used PHT bells on my mare as well - helped her for awhile, but then stopped. NOT the boots fault, she broke her navicular bone (which we didn't know about until we put her down). Would definitely recommend!
