| I have been wondering what brand of barrel saddle everyone out there prefers/likes? I have owned an American Saddlery and currently have an Alamo. I like saddles with a deep seat and high cantle. Please leave me some suggestions on your favorite brands!! |

Location: Utah | I've been very happy with my Martin saddles. I ride the older styles (original Cervi & the Racer) but after 8 years they have held up well. The customer service is awesome as well, for this reason it is really hard for me to not ride one. |

So how are the triple creek's different from the Meleta Brown's, since I think they use the same tree. I'm not 100% though. |

Call Maleta and talk to her-she's wonderful. From what I understand maleta's saddle is built on a buster welch modified tree-don't know about triple creek-do you?? I like Maleta's saddle just a little too much swing in the fenders for me, I like the sharon camarillo (which is built on a buster welch tree too) The freedom saddle fit 2 of my horses wonderfully when in the past no 1 saddle would even come close for fit. Very interesting concept in the freedom saddle
Please see wimpyb response below I have my info incorrect regarding the buster welch tree sorry!

I'm not a fan of the Martin saddles but I think they fit certain horses really great. |

I'm in the beginning stages of working with her now. I just thought that they were both built on the equifit tree. Oh well, I guess I'll find out what works and what doesn't :) |

Location: between here and there | Just a little clarification. There are several trees made by Steele (Equi Fit). That is just a name - he makes many different trees. Mine is MY design and supposed to be exclusive to use by Crates Leather Co. And no, it isn't a modified Buster Welsh tree either! |

Location: Big Blue Skies | Vernon Purdy. You can look him up on Facebook. He makes a saddle tree that will fit almost any horse as it is a different design. Frees up the horses shoulders so that they can move freely. I've had Circle Y, Bob Marshall, Simco, Tex Tan, Double J, Courts, Teskeys saddles and Shilohs and this is the best saddle hands down. I love it and so does my horse. |

Is Reinsman going to be making her saddles now? |

Yes they are made by Reinsman now. While at the BRF one of the vendors had a few of the new Reinsman and then they had a used Cactus CJ at the same booth. IMO the leather on the Reinsman was junk. It looks like they are using the same or similar tree as Cactus did but I just didn't like the craftmanship. Maybe they'll make some changes for the better. |

I believe that Reinsman/Circle Y/Tucker Saddlery are all the same company.
I love my Martin Crown C. I also had a Billy Cook that was made very well, it just did not fit my horse. I liked my older Circle Y (I think it was a 2003), but I am not a fan of their newer saddles.
I have heard mostly good about the Caldwell and Double J's, but I have never owned one myself. I would like to try them one day. The Bob Marshalls also seem to hold up well, and I wouldn't mind one as a trail saddle, but I did not like running in a treeless. |

| Meleta Brown. Best saddle ever. I've tried Double J (liked), reinsman, and Cactus CJ. I like the Meleta Brown the best in my opinion. I also have an old Crates equifit saddle. It's also a great saddle. I hope to get another Meleta Brown in the next few years. |

I agree! I am hoping to get mine with the new tree in a few weeks. |
