I contacted them and someone told me that there isn't one on the Special. I have a Lynn Mckenzie Billy Cook and it's under one of the fenders. The newer ones have it under the horn.
I have learned that serial numbers are a fairly new thing to the saddle world. My special doesnt have one and my martin doesn't either. Both confirmed with Martin and Double J that there wouldn't be. I know other saddle makers didn't start putting serial numbers on until the last 5 years or so.
I called Martin and learned this because I had someone tell me mine was a fake, even though it is marked everywhere with their brand and is clearly one. They confirmed that I did have one and when they started putting serial numbers on.
eta: I have never asked for a serial number on any saddle I have ever bought. I have never seen the point.
Ok good. I thought I was going crazy. I was told there was one number missing on it so it couldn't be tracked 100%. I tried to locate it because I have decided to sell it and I can't find it. So maybe I misunderstood her to say it doesn't have one as it is missing part of it. My new one has it under the horn. Thanks!
