I'm looking at an 8' wide 3 horse LQ trailer that has the generator mounted in the back manger of the trailer.
Has anyone had a generator mounted like this? What are the pros and cons?

Mine is underneath the last manger, came already installed. I prefer on the roof but have not had any problems or issues so decided not to spend the $$ to move it. I tie my horses on the other side when in use, don't want them breathing the fumes.

The only place I would put a generator is on the roof. I've found 2 trailers I like used but it's in the manger so I passed. Been wondering if I could move it

Mine is in the manger and I like it there. It is easily accessible. I also don't tie a horse there when it is running because it does give off some heat plus I'm sure they don't want to listen to it humming. But there are like 6 other places to tie so it's definitely not a big deal.

you can move it from below to roof, but will cost of course. I had a 4Star with the gen in the last manager and also an older Elite trailer that the gen was in the rear tack, never had a problem with either one as long as they have proper ventilation. I have a newer Elite now that the gen with cover is on the roof.... way better and quieter too.
I've had 4 LQ trailers with built in genrators. All were trailers with mangers. 3 of them had the generator in the rear tack and one had it in the managers and an 18 gallon fuel tank in the adjoining manger.
The only one that was a problem was the one with it in the manger. But I believe that was more the generator than the location. The 3 in the tack were Onans. The one in the manger was a Generac. Piece of junk. Contantly overheating and shutting down. Constantly set off the cabon monoxide detectors. Worst generator I've ever used. Was it the location? Some of it was because the Generacs are terrible about overheating. In a smaller place it was worse.
We carried a portable generator around with us and didn't even use the bult in.
The guy I sold that trailer to took it out of the manger and roof mounted it. He told me he still didn't like the Generac brand but it didn't overheat and it didn't set of the detector anymore.
I wouldn't hestitate to have an Onan in the manger. My trailers all had the LQ door on the road side and so was the generator. We did not tie horses to that side of the trailer.
