Put it in the vein.
I was told by a vet/prof that you could give the injectable orally as well. doesn't work as fast but is a safe alternative for someone struggling hitting the vein.
Sounds about right, I thought it was a little pricey too.
I've given the injectable in the mouth before, but the vet said it does taste nasty so horses might start fighting you to give it.

One of my vets use to work for the Banamine company. He told me the liquid is exactly the same as the baste just use that... get a 10cc syringe and just use a needle to fill the syringe and squirt the liquid into the back of your horse's mouth. Yes, it's nasty tasting for them but a hand full of grain or let them graze a little green grass will take care of that. it's way cheaper. I've been using it that way a long time. No need to inject it but it will take the same amount of time to work and the paste.... just a lot less expensive.
