I am using a mullen mouth butterfly freter on my bendy mare. She'll run in an o-ring, as well. She just took to the straighter mouthpiece. Broken mouthpiece caused her to really want to drop her head to her chest, so that's what works for mine.

I have one that is too bendy, too. I was told NOT to go to the horn in the turn but to hold her with the outside rein so she didn't pop that shoulder out and bend out. Also keep the outside leg around her flank to make her follow through with the rear...which she will whip around and to the outside. Cut a 1/2 second off our regular times.
