I ride most on the fourth day and compete on the 7th day. It takes 7-14 days before I feel a difference on their way of going.

For Lower hocks,

I Rest for 72 hours, stall the first day then turnout the other two. Then I work back slowly to what I had been doing until day 7. I have noticed good results at 3 days and they vet told me the meds will help improvement in the joint itself up to 10 days. If they are body sore from compensating, that takes more time to improve so you may continue to see movement improve.

My vet did a lameness internship in Kentucky at a race track.. They used to work the colts in the morning, inject hocks afternoon, next day off, full work following day. But she did say that racehorses are not expected to last as long rodeo horses. lol So she advised inject day 1, nothing next day, then just walking on flat ground day 3, full work by day 5.

For lower hocks my vet says 3 days off. We generally try to inject on a Monday, so we can work by Thursday and run that weekend if we are injecting during the season.

My horse hasn't gotten a hock injection yet (but may be doing that soon) but when he got his stifle injection, my vet said he needes 3 days of rest and 2 grams of bute for each of those 3 days. The maximum effect is about 1 week after the injections are given.
