Went to feed tonight and my mare has 2 very large(bigger than my hands put side to side) welts. One is on the right side on her ribs to other is on the left more towards her back bone. She has small welts on her butt/hips. Any ideas? Vet said she was having a reaction to something but nothing has changed and she's been in her stall all day. Only thing is I sprayed her with fly spray this afternoon but it's the same thing I've been using on her for 3yrs.

Sounds like she got stung by something. My yearling had whelps all over her butt and I think she walked under a bushy tree that had a wasps nest in it.

How do you locate and exterminate the wasps?  I have several that seem to keep covered in stings.  Last summer I had to put one on steroids because the stings got to her so badly.

Simply detach the puppies and return them to their mom... Unless you mean Welts... Then yes, it sounds like bees.... prolly an underground nest if you can't find one hanging in the barn or a hornet nest in a tree.

OMG yes welts. I changed it. It was late when I posted. She's fine this morning.
