My Roommate wants to go try out Springfield, Mo.. (I'm pretty happy in TX) and not sure I really want to go try something else so soon, but I did say I would keep an open mind when we started this whole adventure. I looked on craigslist and it is much more affordable living and seeing as hard of a time as I am finding a place around Fort Worth that is a draw.. I havn't seen much on what barrel racing is like there, are there any indoor pens that have barrel races and board as well? Are there many barrel races close to that area? Any info would be great, I'm kicking it around but not sure thats the direction I want to go all though it does seem to be more affordable

I live 15 miles north of Springfield and there are lots of barrel races within 60-70 miles. Tues. is Ozark, Wed.Carthage, and Thurs. is Aurora. Then there is something about every weekend.

Lucky J is very very nice. They have a lot of series there, and bigger races lke the Barrel Bashes etc.
Springfield to Joplin and all surrounding areas are pretty much in tornado alley so you do have that concern. Cost of living is cheaper here then all the other places we have lived. And hay is easier to find :) Not to mention you are super close to a lot of Oklahoma races. And Fort Smith :)

I lived in North Central AR until I moved for college and I hauled all around there. You won't have a shortage of barrel races and I'm sure you would be able to find reasonable boarding. I live in Fort Smith now & it has tons of barrel racing going on here and were a reasonable distance from there.
