This a long shot, but since this is such a large site I thought maybe someone out there would have some leads.
A friend of mine received a not so nice text the other day from a number she did not know. If that was cowardly enough, when the number is searched it comes up as being a Bandwidth.com VoIP number. I guess its pretty much a system where you can make a 'fake number', send texts and make calls with it, and have responses fowarded back to an actual phone number...Hopefully that makes since.
I never knew such a thing exsisted. Was wondering before legal matters if there was a way to track down the person who set this phone number up

VoIP is voice over internet. It's a phone line that uses the internet instead of traditional telephone land lines. It's what I have at home. Calls are free. Now google voice is something else. You can set up a google voice account with whatever phone number you want. Most people port their number to it and then you can basically aim it (for lack of better words) at whatever phone you want, cell phone, house phone, work phone etc

I had the same thing happen to me a few months ago.......very vulgar nasty things were said to me. I laughed because the person was too much of a coward to use their actual phone number. Brush it off.
If it continues then you can file phone harassment and the police can track the person down by the IP address used to login to the site

I have a google voice number and if you call it, it rings my cell, house number and whatever other number I add to it. But it uses that phone number, so I'm sure they can trace it through that way. And you can't have a google voice number without having a gmail email account, so it'll at least go back to the IP address if nothing else.
