Has anyone dealt with a torn hamstring. I have had Tequila to the vet, equine massage, adjusted. What is your experience with this type of injury? What else can I do to help her heal.

Many years ago my mare tore her hamstring. She short stepped on that leg and was always sore after getting used. Unfortunately for her it was career ending. Ironically her daughter slighty tore (more of a bad strain) her hamstring when she was 7. I kept on it with massage and liniment and she never missed a beat. She's running great now.

Sorry not much help.

You can also start them Pentosan or Polyglycan.. they are good to support soft tissue, could help his body to repair the fibers better!

My mare had a bad fall at a barrel race and tore hers BAD. The vet said she would probably be down about a year. After about 2 months in, I took her to my friend to do acuscope treatments and after 30 days straight you would not believe the difference that made - she was sound!!! Vet did another ultrasound and couldn't believe how it had healed. I was able to start hand walking her and I took it really easy just to make sure everything was good. Per vet approval, I was riding her at 6 months and running at about 8 months after injury.

NutraWound and NitrOxide. Also massage therapy works well too.

My mare tore hers quite literally the day before she was to be cleared from her surgery on her front leg. Dr. Tanner said she would likely recover but there was a chance she wouldnt. He said the biggest thing was to keep her moving. Dont stall but dont leave her in a big pasture either. Walking at light trotting. We walked way more than trotting for the first month or so (ponying) and then gradually trnansitioned. I stretched it, massaged, lasered and then put sore no more on it every night. She also got a round of nutra wound in her. She got cleared 90 days later and the horse has dang near been in money everywhere I have taken her. No issues. Oh yeah, she has a PHT blanket too.

I have a TENS machine, do you think I could use that on Tequila?

I have a laser. My good friend that does chiro and acupuncture sent me where she got hers and I bought it. It isn't crazy hard core or anything but I see a difference and a reaction from my horses when I use it.

I did NutraWOUND and chiro/massage on  my yearling. He was getting the Nutrawound for his chest wound and then when he hurt himself over night in the barn, I just kept him on it for another couple months. My chiro thinks his problems were more pulled hamstring/muscles than pelvic injury, but it is hard to say. He was too small to do a rectal exam and it's too far and costly to have a vet say "yep he broke his pelvis, give him stall rest" so we just did that anyways and are hoping for the best. The massaging of that area, really really deep for a few minutes every evening really seemed to loosen him up.
