Helmet Girls or anyone who has opinion on helmets,  come over to On The Rodeo Road (facebook page)  and fill out the survey Nicole Aichele put together. I would really appreciate it, we are working on this with Nicole and need your input. You can see some people have already commented.

Thanks Lulu, got er done!

Now for another helmet question.  I'm riding colts, so i'm on my horse for at least an hour at a time with my helmet on and to say it's HOT is an understatement.  My helmet has some vents, but it's really easy to get too hot too quick under it.  I have tried to wear a doo rag, but that's not seeming to help.  Does anyone have things they do to stay cool when having to wear your helmet for longer periods without removing it?

Mine doesn't bother me too much, heat-wise. You might try to wear one of those neck coolers, that would probably help.

I wear a Tipperary Sport and I'm one that can't wear a baseball cap as I get too hot.

Hmmm, well maybe I just need to get a helmet with better air flow.  I have a Charles Owen pro 2 and i'm telling you I can barely stand it.  Of course I do sometimes ride in the heat of the day, but in an hour of working my colt, i'm about to melt down!

The Tipperarys have lots of air vents, they also have a new one, the T2, with huge air vents but it is expensive at almost $200.

Ovation has one that looks like it would be cool and it even comes in white, I think it is under $45 from Dover Saddlery.  My old helmet needs to be replaced and I am considering this one, seems like a pretty good helmet for the money.

Mine is a Troxel... It's not cool, but nothing on your head is cool when it's 100* out, lol.
