Location: Louisiana | When I was a kid, my favorite part of riding lessons was the very end when my instructor would clip on the lead line and lunge my horse while I rode with no stirrups and held my arms out. This greatly healped my balance and was fun. She started at a trot and soon enough I was trotting and loping with no stirrups or reins. I also liked doing figure eights and learning lead changes. I'm thankful my mom brought me to someone that could teach me how to RIDE. It was a 16 year old girl, but she was awesome. She taught me all the basics before I ever owned a real barrel horse. You could set up cones to weave through. Obstacle courses are fun. I always enjoyed getting to catch and brush the horse when we got to the barn, too. She put the saddle on because I was too little, but I learned about all the parts of a saddle. And I think I usually got to request one activity for the day. So I would look forward to that. |
