I need to build some muscle - would y'all recommend Smartpak's Smartmuscle mass or THE's muscle mass? I think Smartpak's is a pellet and THE's I'd have to mix in with some Healthycoat or something to make it stick to the feed. Thanks!!

Of all the horses I have fed THE too, only one was picky at first so I spritzed his grain with water and the powder stuck. I did that for about 3-4 days and he licked his bucket after that. I'll send you a pm with my prices and the blends you can add. It's a great supplement, backed by excellent customer service!

I've heard great things about the new Purina Amino Acid supplement Super Sport for building muscle especially topline, rump and foreleg.

Boeingher developed a product called Equitop Myoplast, in Canada we get it over the counter from the vet. It basically is blue green algae, FDA approved has a DIN number, and within 2 weeks my horses had an awesome top line. It is supposed to help with muscle repair and regeneration. It is not messy and my horses eat it without a problem.

I bought a bag earlier this week that I've started on 2 geldings in their mid to late teens.  A friend recommended it so thought I'd give it a try and see how they look.  It takes at least a month if not more before you see results.

So you can feed these products and they actually build muscle?

I will try to get some pictures now so I have something to look back at in a month or two.  One of the geldings I'm  trying it on is my guy that ties up and has body soreness.  I was told it would help with that.

For me to build muscle I look at my feeding program
Make sure you are feeding enough calories (hay/feed) per day that your horse requires for his workload

If I need to add size I use soaked beet pulp, soaked alfalfa cubes if I cant get the it baled and flax mill - works every time for me along with regular riding

Honeymoney - 2014-06-19 11:57 PM So you can feed these products and they actually build muscle?

Muscle Mass will fill in the topline and fill them out with out being worked. To have hard, race horse type muscles, they do need worked of course. I fed it to my weanlings until they were turned out in the spring as yearlings. They had an over all thriftier appearance, and never had the pot belly look. They were locked in the corral on a grass hay bale with minimal grain. From 12 foal crops, we have never had an OCD case so I beleive in our feed program. They really don't get much exercise as they have to stay in the corral during the winter.

Then my show horse has been on it since I bought him as a long yearling. I'm not a fan of lunging or round penning babies so the only exercise he got other than some pasture time was the trotting we did practicing for my showmanship. He looked like a completely different horse within a month or 2. It is also a great supplememt for old retired horses, because it gives them what their body needs to be healthy, plus some. My point is you will see results even with out exercise, but if you are using it on a competition horse, they should be getting the riding anyways.

I'll try and attach my before & after THE MM. I just started another horse on it too so I'm excited to see what it does to the newest member of my herd.

Well I can't get it from the iPad here at work. I wish putting pictures up was easier :/
