Location: Up and over to the right | I was driving my 'new to me' Exiss to a race today and when I pulled my last window down it fell apart.
The wood inside is rotted and the screws rusted and are falling apart in the window. Has anyone ever repaired a trailer window?
I'd rather not buy a new one and it's not under warranty by any means. Totally bummed out but there has to be a way to put new non-rotting piece of wood or something else in?? Pics or vids or more info would be superb. I love the trailer to bits other than the darn wood in thee doors and windows grrr! |

Location: Gonzales texas | I have the same problem with my "new to me" exiss. One window fell completely apart - the inside full of rotten wood. A new window is several hundred $!!! My husband shopped around for styrofoam of the right thickness instead of wood and rebuilt the window with the rest of its outside parts. wish I had pics. Anyway another one is going fast. He's pretty perturbed that he might have to make another one!! Otherwise I love my trailer too. It's a 2003 or 4 I think. |

Location: Riding Crackhead. | It happened to a friends trailer and they took them all off and had a carpenter rebuild the windows with new wood using the existing frame. |

Location: Windoming | One of my windows was damaged and subsequently rotted inside too. Took over a year, but hubby finally rebuilt it using new wood and same frame. We ordered custom made stainless steel hinges for it too. Lovin the new hinge. Hubby still hasn't gotten motivated to replace the other hinge yet.......mostly cause it doesn't need replaced yet.
Mine is a 2001, and we bought it new. |

| My trailer is an Elite and nothing on it is wood. I do not think I have seen an Exiss with wood on the windows but I will start looking!!!! |

| I passed an Exiss today and almost had wreck trying to check out the windows. They had aluminum in the inside. They were obviously dropped down because it is hot as hades around here. |

Location: Wisconsin | As long as your hinges are still good, they are fixable. I bought an Exiss too (2001 model), and after using the first year, one of the windows swelled up and I couldn't get it shut. Then it finally dried and was able to shut it, and left it shut. Then my hinge basically froze up, so my husband took the whole drop down out of the trailer that winter while we had it inside. He was able to take all the rotting wood out and rebuild the outside edge. There is styrofoam on the inside, but it is trimmed with wood around the edge. He took the hinge off, heated it up with a torch, drilled a tiny pinhole in it for some lube, and it freed up the hinge and works fine now. It didn't take him but maybe a couple days to have it back in the trailer. We also had to tear the door to the LQ off and rebuild also. They work fine now. Good luck. |
