My aunt has a mare that is a small quarter horse that my little cousin (5 years old) rides. The mare is great EXCEPT when in heat she wants to buck. Any suggestions ???? I think they are using the mare magic now. She asked me about marbling but i have never had a mare with it done and i have never done it so i didnt recomend it. Just wanted to see if anyone had any advice

My mare gets pretty sore during her cycles and my vet recommended Previcox or banamine to help with the discomfort. I don't want to mess with Regumate so I am going the Previcox route currently but am curious about raspberry leaves. I asked my vet about a marble and she prefers Regumate but like I said I don't want to deal with it. It is expensive too. I may still pursue a marble with possibly a vet that has more experience with them.

Raspberry tea!!!
I keep it on hand at ALL times. Have a four year old that is way behind in her training because when we started her she bucked for 90 days straight due to endocrine issues. 1 round of raspberry tea and she has not bucked since!
I use the loose leaf from the health food store. 3/4 cup in about 3L of water - simmer for 3hours. I use a slow cooker as I find this works best. You want to avoid doing this in a metalic container. Leave the leaf in the tea and feed 1/2 cup/day as needed. I would bet you would see a huge difference!

I feed crushed raspberry leaves. They do work well. Mare Magic is simply crushed raspberry leaves. We feed the raspberry leaves to out geldings as well. I order from morethanalive.com or herbstore.com.
I just had my 2 year old filly caslicked for a different reason but it does help with reproductive organ issues. Very inexpensive.
