I have this TB mare that I got about 2 years ago and the lady told us she was stitched up (Found out she only had one ovary though not to long ago) and she was only 4 at the time so I had no plan on breeding her but now I think I want to breed her. She's a consistent 3D barrel horse but she just isn't fast enough to keep up with QH's so I was thinking about breeding her and training the foal myself. She has great conformation and looks more like a QH just a lot taller. My question is, does anybody know if she would still take easily because she only has one ovary? And would she be easy to breed via AI?, I haven't seen her come into full heat but she does tend to get very lovie dovie with our geldings and she usually hates them.

Take her to the vet and let them ultrasound her to see if she is producing follicles on her one ovary, if she is, there shouldn't be a problem breeding her. I would probably let the vet handle the breeding though. That way they can US her and see when she is going to ovulate and breed then....and they have shots to bring them in heat and make them ovulate.....etc...etc.....so, if she has one good ovary she should breed for you.
