| I just put my sundress on that had been laying on my bathroom floor... (It fell off the towel rack) I walked into the livingroom and felt something on my shoulder. I'm not afraid of spiders so wasn' real concerned... Until I looked.... I had a "SCORPION" walking on my shoulder!!! I start yelling for my son Travis to HURRY!!! Hurrry!! He slapped it off, NOW we can't find it. Thankfully I wasn't stung. |

We moved into our new house at the end of Feb. and I have killed at least 20 of them in the house. They won't kill you but the sting HURTS! I have just made a habit out of checking close and shoes before putting them on. They like cool, dark areas. Unfortunately I have found the majority of them in our bathroom. I was stung many times as a kid and I certainly don't want to relive those memories! |

I live in the middle of Oklahoma... between OKC and Tulsa... BUT I live on a beach with NO water... Meaning I live on a sand hill... I was once told that trantula's will keep scorpions away... But I think they like each other because I have them here also. |

You have so many because of the disturbed ground when they poured your foundation. We had the same problem. Go and get some Bengal Roach Spray. You spray it around your baseboards. Take your animals and yourself out while spraying and give it about an hour before coming back in. Works great. Then there is a spray we used around the house that works well also. We still get one here and there but we really look for them when it's going to rain. For whatever reason, that is when we find them. |

We always check our towels and our shower curtain.
I was sitting in my chair and felt something and lucky enough I had a pair of relaxed jeans on. I grabbed the material on my pants and carefully took my pants off and sure enough, it was a grandpa scorpion. I've gotten bitten a few times and I can't believe how long and how bad the sting is. I have to take Benedryl right away. Glad you weren't stung. |

This is VERY interesting information NTO. I am going to get some of this stuff. They do seem to come out more when rain is present. Hmmm??? |

I have never seen a tarantula around here but I think I would actually think that would be kinda cool. We do have wolf spiders that are the size of a small dog! |

They definitely do. I found one on our shower curtain yesterday and we got rain in the early evening.
The one that works good outside is called Pestabs. You use a hand sprayer and spray it on the ground around your house going about a half a foot to a foot out. We get it at our local feed store or you can buy it online.
Walmarts carry the Bengal Roach Spray. It runs about $18.00 for a big can and is worth every penny. |

Location: Gainesville, TX | You definitely want to get the spray for your baseboards. We do that at least once a year in the spring. We also try to do outside. It also helps to 'bug bomb' your house. But I think you have to be gone for like 24 hours. It's a lesser variety of what the exterminator people do where the bomb will send up a mist throughout the entire room, killing everything. You put one in each room. You can get them at Walmart too. Sometimes for immediate destruction of everything, they are the best option. |

Location: South Texas | We had a bad year last year for scorpions. Had just laid down in bed & out of the corner of my eye saw something move. Looked over & there was a scorpion on my pillow. Like to had heart failure. Had to go find a hammer to kill it! Then this spring I was asleep & woke up to something crawling in my hair. Kind of flicked it then woke all the way up. Looked & there was a scorpion again. I hate the nasty little b****ds!! Nothing I have tried has kept them out for long. Last year was extremely dry (like no rain all year) so I thought maybe they were coming in for water. But this year we have had rain & I'm still finding them in the house. I now check the bed every night now & it takes a long time for me to fall asleep! |

Location: Along the Caney River | I live in Northeast Oklahoma. We built our house 12 years ago and immediately we had scorpions! I am SCARED to death of being stung! I live on top of a rocky hill and apparently they love it here! I sprayed with Home Defense from Lowe's and it got rid of them ( had to spray each year). In 2012 we were being overrun with them. I seen 8-10 in my bathrooms in less than a week. I had it when I went into the bathroom, and one fell from the ceiling on my head! I knew the minute I felt something touch my hair, threw my head forward and it flew on the floor. I went and got my hammer (weapon of choice for killing scorpions) and smashed him to death! When my husband got in the house I told him to clean up the dead body, since I think they might still sting me even when dead. I also told him I was calling the exterminator because the Home Defense spray was not getting it done! I believed we were having a epidimic! Called the exterminator and they were gone! He fogged our house, sprayed inside and outside. It worked. He also said they come to water, but also like the dry. Said you find them in the bathroom because they are looking for a drink. I don't care why they come I just want them dead! |

| My older son has been "Saving" them ever since we came home from a friends pool and when he took his shorts off... He discovered that he had SAT on a scorpion the whole way home (about 20 min)from the pool. It did not sting him... SO now if he finds them he retrieves them to outside... AWAY from the house... He says he mad a pact with the scorpion colony to NOT kill them if they will NOT sting us... so far it has worked the only thing ever stung by one at our house was the little schnauzer dog and that was because he stepped on it... I do spray around the exterior of the house but not INSIDE as I have had enough health issues and don't want to breath in leftover poison...
Cancer 3x all different types Triple Bypass heart surgery NOW COPD.... you can see why I'll keep my son and his beliefs around for now. |

I read somewhere that you seldom find snakes over 5000 feet elevation. Don't know if it is true. |
