I've had my spine injected and the first one was for my sciatic nerve. It really helped. The other 3 were less effective, so I was sent to a surgeon. He gave me a book about exercises to strengthen the back and that has helped my back tenfold. No surgery and no more injections in the back. My husband was very pleased with the shot to his foot though he said it hurt like hades. Best of luck to you. |

Location: Utah | I have Dr. Scholls inserts for plantar fiscitiitis which help. I always look for shoes with a heel. If my heel is higher than my toes I do okay with shoes. Don't sit with your feet propped on a chair, don't crouch down so your toes are bent. I dealt with this for close to two years before figuring it out and getting some relief. Had a good foot dr but he couldn't tell me these things. If I crouch to boot a horse I do so flat footed. Cowboy boots often have enough heel that they feel good. Don't go barefoot, if I clean house barefoot I will pay for it for days. I don't wear flip flops or cheap sandals.

Oh yes! I have a pair in all of my boots. I think my saving grace is I didn't have to stand on concrete. My standing was out in pastures and/or in horse stalls. |

no sitting at a desk for me,im on my feet continuously for 8 to 10 hours a day,my stretches consist of putting my toes on the wall and stretching my foot, and a few others like the lunge position stretch. Its hard to put most of the weight on my heels because they hurt so bad,but i definatly watch my posture as best as i can.I definately cannot go barefoot, as much as I would like to, no way can i do that, i have to put shoes on as soon as i get up,and wear them till i go to bed at night.BUT,im in steeltoe boots for 8 to 10 hours a day,i spend good money on my work boots but they sure are not helping me. Thanks for this, one of the doctors told me heel inserts, but the pain went straight to my back,so im really struggling trying to find a way to get through the work day. Appreciate all of your input, ill give my best shot to work on your help! |

I looked up the inserts, and i see they also have the stretch type night time splints that my doctor said I will have to use! Im willing to try whatever I can! Thanks for that info!!! |

| I've been wearing ZCoil shoes since 2003 and my PF hasn't bothered since I started wearing them. Until then my feet felt like they were made out of glass and disintegrating the first steps I'd take in the morning or after sitting for a few minutes. I only have to wear the shoes at work to keep the pain under control. You can go online to find a store handling them or buy on line. |

I see they are custom, The closest store is 3 states away, it does say they can try to help if there is no nearby store though, they have a lifetime warranty so the price isnt all that bad if they work, that would be priceless! |

Yes, they watch you walk on rice paper and do some other things. They don't actually custom build them for you but get the pair that fits you best. They are a very hard plastic with a lot of arch support depending on what you need. You also get a "milder" pair of inserts, both work for me. I only have them in my workout shoes. I do a lot of impact and stepping/jumping on benches at the gym and these inserts have saved me. I have been wearing them for 3 years. I have never checked on line to see if that is an option. |

I think thats it, looks uncomfortable but it is really not that bad. I seriously regret it when I forget to put it on, pretty much have to crawl out of bed the next morning.
I also have the heel wraps for walking around the house barefoot, those are awesome! They also fit in my winter mud boots if I need to make a quick trip to the barn. |

When it really flares up I wear the boot at night.
I do all the stretches already mentioned as well as the frozen soda bottle after which I also roll my foot around on a tennis ball.
I am a hairdresser that stands on concrete 10 hours a day too so I feel your pain.
Also as others have said never go barefoot, your foot or feet needs support.
Good luck! |

Location: Kansas | Good feet for inserts helped me. Also bending your toes up with your feet flat on the floor. Also the stretch for splints--stand pigeon toed, hands against wall, stretch your toes up and and bend your knees. It stretches the front of your leg and your heel. Do these several times a day. You could do the second stretch with your boots on. These stretches seem to mimic the idea of a boot to me. I need support under my arch to avoid PF. I have also wrapped my instep to give it support but the inserts work best. I also wear Birkenstock sandals in the house--the ones with a lot of support. They also have an insert that was about $40 that worked pretty well. I put those in my rubber boots to chore in now. Good luck. |

I completely understand your pain, hope you get to feeling better soon. I wanted to add that the boot I have is like a therapy boot that my sports medicine Dr. gave me from the physical therapy dept. I've also stated to wear a new tennis shoe brand called brooks which help a lot, my nike shox tend to hurt me worse. Good luck though its a rough ailment |

| I had it for 2 years. It's very very painful. My wife had it at exactly the same time. We fought it, and the following things helped both of us:
1. Put the ball of your foot on a step, and let your heel fall below the step.
2. Never go barefoot in the house. Get a pair of old man type slip on tennis shoes.
3. Biggest lifesaver was a heel thing I got from a company called Stone Lang. It was a silicone type material in a honeycomb pattern. It really relieves the pain. They were $60 but we're really worth it. |

I got them at Dillons in the pharmacy/medication section. They were like $15, nothing fancy. 2. I got a brace to wear at night. I also got this at Dillons in the pharmacy/medication section. It keeps your foot at a 90 degree angle. It's not pretty but it helps! They are $30 a piece. 3. Freeze water bottles and roll your feet over them. Works wonders.
I hope you get some relief! |

Location: the end of the rainbow | I suffered bad for 6 months... tried inserts & the sleeping cast thing, which helped some but I managed to do some pretty bad damage to my right foot & it just wouldn't go away. I was also using a lot of Voltaren gel (Surpass) on my feet which helped more than anything else.
I finally went & got it injected. The injection honestly didn't hurt at all. The dr. freaked out when he looked up & I had taken the mask with the laughing gas off my face & wouldn't breathe it in because he thought it would make the injection hurt worse... but the gas was about to make me puke. The injection itself was fine. It's been a year now since that & I am just barely starting to feel some discomfort... but I have been a bad girl & have been going barefoot or in flipflops almost exclusively for the last 3 months or so.

The dang foot doctor only xrayed my foot , never looked at my foot UGH, told me to do the frozen bottle, and wall stretches. didn't go back. |

Location: Northeast SD | The rolling out on the frozen water bottle will help. There are special stretchers that you can find on ebay, amazon, etc. that help with stretching it. Stretch as much as possible!! Go to a good podiatrist and get casted for a good orthodic to put in your workboots and all other shoes. They will support your foot to your natural curves of your feet. The Dr. Scholls etc are not good for your feet no matter what they claim. |

I made sure I did the excercise he gave me to do- standing on my tiptoes for 5 seconds pressing/flexing my calves outward and then drop my heels and curl my toes up for 5 seconds. I did as many as I could stand, working up to being able to do around 15-20 reps. I'd do them twice a day. Mine finally healed up, and it only flares up if I wear shoes without support several days in a row. My feet actually felt best when I wore my Justin boots! LOL! |

| I dealt with it for over a year..........ouch! The Dr.Scholl inserts helped me get over it without surgery or injections. They have a machine at Walmart that detects pressure on your feet and tells you which insert to buy. Like another person said, I cannot go barefoot at home doing any housework, or it starts to flare up again. After I started to heal, the actual Scholl inserts were too much and I then purchased the cheaper inserts at any drugstore. On off days from work, I wore Merril shoes to town , groceries and all that. At home I wore a pair of sketchers with the Dr Scholl inserts.....it works , but does take time |

| I didn't read all of the responses... but i used the frozen water bottle, wall stretches, and i got Dr. Scholls Plantar Fasicits sp? Inserts... i have them in all of my shoes and they work great! The only shoes i can wear without them now is my Ariats because the have great support when new... now when they get broke in good i will have to put inserts back in. |

He can not go to Wal-Mart and buy shoes he actually has to spend $$ on good shoes. The surgery did help him but it was h@ll for me during recovery time since he was off work for 4 months and is a baby when it comes to injuries to boot. He still does his stretching and like someone else said DO NOT walk around barefoot. The shoes that SG mentioned are excellant but hubby doesn't like them so he buys Merrills. silly man. you need to bring him down here so hubby can educate him on them. it is all we have worn for 7 years now
No kidding....for some reason while he was off work for 4 months recovering from surgery he bought a golf cart and a new set of custome clubs.....that's part of the h@ll I was talking about. LOL |

Location: Oregon | I get it from time to time, mainly more now that I'm on my feet 10hrs a day as a Hair stylist. Wear supportive shoes/boots, inserts, and when it gets very painful just stay off your feet for a day or two...of course if you're able too. Massage and ice helps mine and some ibrophen. Get someone to massage your feet :) It's painful I know! I'm sorry feel better! |

RED WING ,never looked at twist X, ill look them up! We have to have 6 inch laces,no closed foot like a cowboy boot. ill go search, im thinking on ordering those inserts! I definatly need a full foot insert, the heel inserts kill my back. |

Red Wing are excellent boots.
I don't think the Twisted X have a lace up with steel toes. My older ones have a real thick sole that saved me. I can walk in them all day with my powerstep pinnacle inserts without any problems. |

Can you ride in the Merrell laceups you bought SG? if so which boot is it. I am looking for boots to ride in that will support my arch. I have PF in both feet and have othrthotics in my boots that work pretty good but am always looking for something better. |
