Location: North Dakota | My friend Shawna has been battling Cystic Fibrosis since birth. Almost no one that knew her over the years of barrel racing even knew she was sick! She was such a tough cookie! She never complained and never EVER used it as an excuse. She use to travel the country going to barrel races, mounted shootings, and practicing her massage therapy. She also worked at a horse camp in CO for a few summers. All of this while being sick and no one knew! She is one of the nicest people you will ever meet! She ALWAYS has a smile on her face and I don't think there has ever been a time that I have talked to her and she did not laugh. She just was so full of life and living every moment to its absolute fullest. Please help her out if you can. They have a link setup to take donations. Thanks for letting me share this. This girl is truly an inspiration!! I wish everyone could know her.

I probably don't know Shawna as well as you do, but whenever I saw her she always had a smile on her face and was a very pleasant person to be around. Such an inspiration of living life to the fullest. I had no idea she was sick until the recent years. She never once complained.

Location: North Dakota | She had to be intubated since she was having trouble breathing with just oxygen. She is or has been flown to the transplant hospital in NC this morning. Please keep her in your prayers.

So sorry for your loss. My aunt has it as well and just had a lung transplant last fall and is doing very well. |

Location: Riding Crackhead. | Like Sara said no one knew. I saw her quite often at jackpots and didn't have the foggiest anything was wrong. Yesterday morning when I saw it on Facebook was the first I knew and at that time I logged onto her fundraising site where it was at $250. I made a donation at that time and thought to myself.....this little amount of money isn't going to help her much. I looked again this afternoon and she's at $18,800+!!! Amazing what people can do when they come together. |

Shawna update 3The doctors were hoping that today she would be able to stand up and perhaps walk around her room a bit. Well, she did that... Then proceeded to walk around the entire floor of the hospital. I have posted a video on my Facebook (video was too big for this website) so check it out :)

They found lungs that are a perfect match for Shawna so she went in for surgery on Sunday afternoon to have her new lungs put in!!
Today the ventilator was removed and Shawna took her first breaths with her new lungs!! Doctors are hoping to have her walking tomorrow. :)
