Location: In The Snow, AZ | Just picked up a little 22 year old, mustang pony yesterday for our daughter to learn on (hopefully). He's a bit of a bugger and needs a tune up. We bought him off of the woman who bought my Paint mare, Bingo, last year. We have kept in contact, and the result is, we bought this pony from her.
He's rubbed out most of his mane and the top of his tail, as well as over his shoulders and his hindquarters. The gal we bought him from said her vets diagnosis was allergies due to their orange trees. He perscribed an injectable medication (doesn't have a name on it) as well as Hydroxyzine and Prednisone tablets. To me, it looks like Sweet Itch. I can post pictures later if anyone is interested in seeing them. Anyone who has experience, what would you do (treatment wise) for him? Should I continue with the medicine she sent? Any medicated shampoos or salves?
Thanks in advance.
