Expert Posts: 1611	I have an older gelding who I have a terrible time hitting the vein on to give anything. Giving him his legend shots is a task that is getting harder and harder every time. My vet even has a hard time and goes for the one in is leg when sedating for injections. Anyone have any tips or tricks? Lived to tell about it and will never do it again Posts: 5409	Close your eyes and do it by feel, maybe go up a little higher on the neck. I have one horse that I have to do it by feel and not sight, works everytime first stick.

Expert Posts: 3147	If the vet is having that much trouble the veins probably have a lot of scar tissue around them from previous injections that have irritated the area and there isn't much you can do about that.

He said he saw no way the meds could actually get where they were supposed to go and he did not know what the injection would do in the muscle tissue. But he admits he is not up on the latest equine meds and we only use him for small things.
