Location: Hill Country of TEXAS!! | Seventeen flat! Ive had mine since they first came out and they still look like new! They have been down the road for many many miles. I broke the shoulder strap on the bag and called the company to buy a new one; she sent one free of charge since they had change the bag to a better quality since my original purchase. They are a great company and worth every single penny they may cost today! |

Location: Red Raiderland | Seventeen Flats have been great. Although mine are starting to see better days I have had them for years. I am using them in my arena right now. One has a string broken in the top and another has a small tear but that's all the wear they really have. As someone else stated don't leave them where mischeivous barrel horses roam, that's probably why one of the strings broke on mine! |

Location: Loma Linda, CA | I'm going to be buying some pop up barrels myself. I get so tired of lugging heavy barrels around the arena and I am a respectful boarder and put them away so others can use a clear and barrel free arena, but it seriously takes me like an hour to set up barrels and poles (arena is huge, barrels/poles are kept about 40 feet away from the arena >.<)
How heavy are the pop up barrels? How do they 'pop' up? Lol sorry for the silly question. And $170! Holy cow! Lol. I can only imagine what the mark up of actual cost to create this is... I'd think $30? Lol.

They aren't heavy at all. When packed in the bag, they may weigh 15 pounds??? They aren't bad at all. I've had mine at least 3 years and love them! Considering how much I have used them and how easy they are to use, they are worth the price tag. |

They aren't heavy at all! I can actually carry the bag while I'm on my horse - it's a little awkward and I sure wouldn't do it on a colt - but it works. I got mine as a Christmas gift but I think they're worth every penny. We've used them to create desensitizing obstacles for the horses as well. They "pop up" similar to a pop up hamper (but they're much larger). They're basically a large spring with a fabric covering. |

That's a neat idea!! I've seen a lot of horses panic when they hit a barrel and it falls underneath them... |

Location: Texas | If you are looking to buy Pop-Up Barrels make sure you buy the seventeenflat barrels. They are better quality and worth the money. The ones in the picture above are not the originals and are knock-offs of the ones that were invented by a fellow barrel racer.
You can buy them at
www.seventeenflat.com
If you look in the trailers of some of the best barrel racers in the country, they have these barrels in their trailer, not the knock-offs :) |

| I have the 17 flats. I've probably had them.... 15 years. Eeek! The barrels themselves are still in great condition, although admittedly I use them rarely. The bag has some big tears in it. They must have changed something in recent years, because to tote the whole bag around full, I think it probably weighs close to 40lbs. Not light.

Location: Too far from home | I'm looking at purchasing some pop-up barrels and stumbled upon this old post. I know things have changed since this was discussed in 2014, so am wondering if the Seventeenflat barrels are still the best? They are quite a bit more expensive than the others, which is fine if they are that much higher quality. What are your thoughts? |

| Yes I would definitely buy the SeventeenFlat over the cheaper brands. Well worth it! They even stay up when it's slightly windy because the bottom has some weight to it. |

Location: Central Texas | I have a set of the cheaper barrels. They have held up well for me. I don't use them daily, maybe 3-4 times per month (sometimes less than that). I have used the more in the past two years since starting my colt. I have not had any problems with mine. I got them about 4 years ago when they were on sale on a Black Friday. |

Location: Heart of Texas | I have a set of the cheaper ones as well. If I was buying for myself, I'd go seventeen flat. But since mine were a gift, they're awesome and no complaints. I only use mine when I haul to different arenas for practice or every now and then at the house. I bounce around from barrels, to tires, to pop ups, whatever I have the time to move lol. |

Location: WI | I have a set of the 17flat - love to support a USA made product! Invented and manufactured by a fellow barrel racer :-)
I don't use them a whole ton - mostly just at rodeos and races where I can get some arena time. Glad I have them though. |

I've had the cheaper ones, I've been in arenas where people use the garbage cans......seriously nothing compares to the Seventeen Flats. |

Location: Oregon | yes! Seventeen Flat - the original pop up barrels. These are made with a heavier guage wire and material so they will hold up longer and you will get more bang for your buck. They are the exact same size as a barrel so that you will be practicing perfect! :) Plus, support an American business as opposed to a knock off China company. |

Location: Where the long tails flow, ND | I have American Heritage Tight Turn Flex Barrels, they've held up awesome and I actually leave them up in my barn because I'm too lazy to collapse them. I carry them around on my horses to set them up all the time, because once again- lazy.
My son likes playing in them, he got stuck in once when he was 2 because he collapsed it then stepped inside- it was hilarious. So horse and kid approved!

| I got a set of the off-brand pop up barrels for Christmas or something one year and they have held up ok. I don't know that I would buy them again. I don't think I have put them through that much abuse and they are coming apart around the wire.
