We are putting up a 10x20 run in shed for our horses on our new farm. We want the horses to be able to stay outside full time and still get out of the elements. We have one horse with heaves and I want a shed that is easy to manage, clean, and prevent as must dust as possible. I thought about ordering the interlocking rubber mats and placing them as the footing of the shed (right now the footing is a pebble gravel where the shed will be put up). That way I could clean it out and spray it out to prevent dust. Has anyone ever done this? Do the mats get slick if exposed to snow or rain? Any other ideas? Where we board currently they have dirt floors and the water runs into the shed and it becomes a muddy mess. When it drys out it becomes a dusty mess! Thank you!

Couple of suggestions.. Do the foundation first! ( never after the fact). Build a correct building pad and do the dirt work around it to ensure water runs away from building. Second- build high enough for ventilation and versatility.
Third- use standing seam metal roofing- there are no exposed screws or holes to ever wallow out and leak. We LOVE maintenance FREE!
