This link NEVER works for me.  It's just blank in the middle of the page where the results should be.  I've had trouble every year.  I've even emailed the folks that run their website for help and they say it must be something with my computer :(  Grrrrrr

Still doesn't show up well but this is in order of ranking. I don't know what it took to make it back though (they take 96 back)

It took an 18.87 to make it back in the progressive or something right around there in case I counted wrong.

There were only 6 tipped barrels in all. The ground was not as horrible as all the Facebook posts by people that have never been to the pen told everyone they were. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang looked like a 4 year old at this rodeo and had problems. Fallon was sporting her Denver Bronco fan outfit. Orange pants and hat with a blue shirt (I personally thought it was hideous). Sherry Cervi was on a sorrel with a big white face. Jana Beams horse looked like he was out there just loping the pattern but he really clocked. June was on a palomino that I believe is owned by her sister. JMHO but Laura Lambert should be the one that could very will jump in there and win it as basically a wild card no one really expects.

I guess I would love to have a 4 year old clock like KKBB with problems.

I see my good pal Ivy had a decent run!

Yeah, lol! She got real strong going to first and basically stuck her nose in the air and did her own thing. Britt was not looking very amused after she finally got her stopped and was exiting the pen.

I grew up in Cheyenne and we had 4-H fair/barrels there and usually a Laramie county barrel race. My little 15 hand horse used to love that pen...so did his 15.2 dam I guess. That is the only arena he used to run 1D times. It is generally really deep.

6 tipped barrels is amazingly low for that pen! The times overall were slower than last year's slack by a couple of tenths more or less.  That is a tough pen, even some great horses have trouble in there.  Laura had a pretty run.
I was sure glad they got wrapped up before the lightning got too close!  What a great rodeo and some good horse race watching!  Cheyenne always feels like home!  Can't wait to go back for the perf!

This link NEVER works for me.  It's just blank in the middle of the page where the results should be.  I've had trouble every year.  I've even emailed the folks that run their website for help and they say it must be something with my computer :(  Grrrrrr

Don't know what browser you're using, but you might try a different one on that site. I keep Firefox and Chrome for sites that IE won't work on..

SKM - 2014-07-16 6:38 AM  There were only 6 tipped barrels in all.

I was there with my friend who ran and talking with the NFR girls some of them said it was better ground than usual! My friend did good so she thought it was fine. It's real easy to get running really fast in that arena and the ground has that hard pan underneath so when they set to turn they just can't and go by. That happened a lot yesterday.

Considering what they had to work with the committee and the judges did an amazing job fixing the ground!! They truly cared about the barrel racers and it showed! Thank you CFD and judges!! Hats off to anyone who put up $400 to run at one of the biggest rodeos of the year and no matter if they cracked out a 4 year old or rocked orange pants they were busy being awesome while others were busy being negative. Enough said.

It's funny to me that every other sport can be on SPORTSCENTER and be analyzed to death, but anytime someone gives their own opinion (which they are entitled to and free to speak it about a barrel race they are vilified.

That is what the mods put there after Obama got elected and some on here thought he was going to be a great president. I then said I would also prefer living in a fantasy land but unfortunately I live in the real world.

Wow. When I made that post, I was simply mentioned what was going on with a few of the key players and horses people have been asking about recently. There was no sarcasm or malicious intent when I posted it. So if you view my comments as being negative, then that is what you made up in your own head and not at all what my intentions were. Christy, your daughter sure had a nice run. I remember her when she was little and you were pregnant with your son. She sure has gown into a lovely young lady.

I can't tell from the website--what day will the second go take place?

I may be wrong but I believe the top 96 from the 1st will be split over next week (starting this Saturday til next) 12 will run each night and then the top times on a two run average will advance to the final go.

Thank you, I am very proud of my daughter! I guess I found your comments about Fallon's clothes being hideous extremely negative.she is a personal friend of mine and has always been kind to me and my family. While I totally agree that you have the right to speak your mind in here it would be awesome to be positive and encouraging. I find it disappointing in our barrel racing community that even though we all share the same passion for something we all are so critical. Just a side note: Kids love Fallon and her crazy orange pants and I can't tell you how many times I have seen her and her alone stay to sign autographs for every single little girl barrel racer long after everyone else left.:) if your intentions were not negative then please forgive my post. I've been wrong before:)

I do see Christy's point about the negative comment towards Fallon.  Seems like there are a few people around here who like to not like her, but from what I've seen, she's one of the only girls out there who always has a smile on her face and actually makes eye contact and acknowledges you when you ride past her.  Believe it or not- that's not real common out there-

I'm sorry if my finding the color combination of orange and blue as not working and looking bad together was viewed by you as being negative. I never once assaulted her character ot her as s person. I said I found the outfit to be hideous because the only time orange and blue work together is during football season. If it was orange and yellow, I probably would have liked it. She is a very personable girl and I see why young girls are drawn to her. But even fashion icons like Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron and Beyonce have made The Fashion Polices worst dressed list. Again, I never said anything negative about her as a person. Just that one particular color combination choice.

Babies are SUCH fun...... I really like that mare, I think given a bit more time to mature and get consistent...she'll be one heck of a horse (not like she doesn't have a pretty incredible record already).

Fallon's outfits are meant to be out there...wild, bold and fun...that's the whole point...I admire her free spirit.
Watching the Calgary Stampede, I admired her petting on Babyflo leaving the arena...
The time to be critical, is when someone is jerking on their horse after a run....that makes barrel racers look like fools....and we shouldn't be afraid to speak up, and tell them to knock it off...or at least give them a cold hard stare.

GASP ! ! ! ! SKM had the "audacity" to comment on Fallon's outrageous outfit....GOOD GRIEF, folks, if that is all you have to pin your "negative" comments toward her on.....you lead a SAD life......people make comments every day about what they like and don't like....just because it was "Fallon", you seem to think it was "mean spirited".....Personally, I think plenty of her outfits are horrendous....doesn't say anything bad about her character, does it?????

Goodness, are we not allowed to voice our opinion or observations anymore on this site without being bashed? The only negative remarks have come from those complaining. I, for one, appreciated SKM commentary on the rodeo since I can't watch it. Isn't it kind of reassuring to know the pros have to go through the same things we minions have to with our horses? Isn't it nice to see the pro girls handle disappointment as well as most do? Are not those moments the ones that truly show our youth how to react when things aren't going well? It's easy to admire someone if we only see the pretty things but it is when things don't go well and they still show class that is impressive to me. So I thank SKM for providing some insight to the slack that I would not have known just reading the results.

I do think she will be a great one. It was just a very bad time for her to act her age due to what ead at stake. She sure is a talented horse, no doubt about it. I can't imagine how deadly she will be in a couple of years as she matures.

Didn't they move the pattern down to get the 2nd in a better position due to ground conditions?

The arena is a very odd shape. From the gate to the eye was probably 300' I'd guess. It sorts of bottle necks. So if you go right first, you need to hug the left side of the pen otherwise you screw up the entry to 1st. 3rd is set in the middle of the pen with no fence to help slow a horse down or turn them back. Some people smoked 1 and 2, only to get run off with on 3. Others got real deep on 1 because they didn't get lined up right. Others got run off with from the gate and it's a LOOOONG way to 1 so they had no horse left off of 3. Add the ground conditions to it and it made for the time deviations that you saw.

Yes. They moved it down 60' more. Basically the eye was set where 1 and 2 normally are.

I do see Christy's point about the negative comment towards Fallon.  Seems like there are a few people around here who like to not like her, but from what I've seen, she's one of the only girls out there who always has a smile on her face and actually makes eye contact and acknowledges you when you ride past her.  Believe it or not- that's not real common out there-
Fallon's outfits are meant to be out there...wild, bold and fun...that's the whole point...I admire her free spirit.

I agree.  I didn't see it as SKM was being malacious.  Fallon's outfits do nothing for me either.  It does not mean that I do not like her.  Fallon has never done anything to me therefore I don't have any reason to not like her.  I think she is a fantastic barrel racer and a fantastic commentator for the barrel races.  She has an amazing gift to keep everyone feeling like they are riding right along with the barrel racer as they are making their runs.

SKM - 2014-07-16 7:38 AM  There were only 6 tipped barrels in all.

Exactly NJJ.  Style is just that...the manner in which you do something.  I don't like Dennis Rodman's sense of style either.  I think it was more than hideous and horrendous.  But it didn't mean he couldn't play basketball.  He just liked making a statement!  And much like Fallon, that style just doesn't work for some of us.

I don't know if this link will work, but here are a few shots I took during the slack.  I wasn't on the ground so my angle is a little off, but rather I decided to enjoy the slack sitting with some friends instead of hanging out with only my camera for company.  I took more pictures than I posted on FB, but I didn't take everybody's pictures.  Hope you can see them and enjoy them!  If the link doesn't work, my FB page is www.facebook.com/307photography

I get what Christy's saying.  I've been making a concerted effort to live by the "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" motto.  It's hard, and I fail a lot, but when I don't fail I feel good, and the more positive I am the better I feel.

I sat next to SKM...and I know personally she was not be derragatory towards Fallon.  We talked about how bright and colorful she was...and even though those aren't our favorite colors...you certainly knew it was Fallon.  But on a side note...Shada was quite colorful as well!

I look at things differntly. I would rather hear the truth then have butterflies blown up my butt. I never appreciated someone coming up and telling me I had a great run when I had a bad one. I liked the person that came up and said it the way it was. In sports, just like in life, there are winners and losers. How can the losers ever become winners without someone telling them the truth?

I guess to put it in perspective SKM, if someone was describing your daughter's choice of horses like you did BP or her clothing as you did FT- I am sure it would set a lot of us on defense of her. So while yes, we all are entitled to say what we want- it doesnt seem negative until it hits home. I have never seen you as that way but did see a little less than your normal sunny post in that particular comment. Thats all. I know outside of this forum this page is seen as far less than expert nor kind overall. I enjoy the posts that prove otherwise.

This is not the placed to be schooled on peoples opinion C.Loflin especially by you... It's a public forum and if someone doesn't care for FT for whatever reason, or what she wore...  it's up to them, I'm glad you like her (not many people do) but again it's their right...

I kind of agree with this-there was no attack on character for any of the riders.
But I find it odd that on her facebook post, while parts were inspirational about having a hard time and staying in the fight, there was one line about not having 2 rigs and 8 horses like some of the girls (Like Fallon?). It was almost like a veiled insult that was the only reason they were successful, like they couldn't do it with one horse. I could be wrong and just have taken it the wrong way--sometimes that happens with OPINIONS and observations.
I personally love looking at the horses and costumes-one thing about rodeo, it's never boring!

Those are horse's she has for sale...not as back ups.LOL

No matter how many horses you have and haul...You still have to be able to ride them to win. I give people a lot of credit that can haul mulitple horses and ride them all well.

I'm confused....I went back and re-read what SKM wrote about Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and again, all she said was ...she looked like a 4 year old.  She IS a 4 year old.  The little mare struggled. She did not look like the the seasoned horses that she (BP) normally runs here.  In a later post she also says how deadly this horse will be in a few years.  I think alot of you are reading things into that post that aren't there.

I totally agree and when I saw her time I wondered what happened. I would love to see someone go up to Brittany and tell her she had an awesome run at CFD...LOL That mare is doing things that is a rarity for a 4 year old and she has been the talk of the town on here because of it.

This thread cracks me up, and here's why. One thing I have always sensed is a feeling that so-called professional rodeo athletes/competitors have not gotten the respect and more widespread recognition that professional athletes in other sports seem to get. I think if you are a professional athlete in any sport, you have to be willing to take the good with the bad. We all know what the "good" is, but one of the "bad" things is the press and fans can sometimes be very critical and unfair. All professional sports have their controversial and colorful competitors. They have to handle the critics and they have to be willing to put up with a lot of rumor and innuendo. If someone wants to be catty and take shots at you for wearing colorful outfits, or gossip about your life, you'd better learn to cope and accept that this sort of thing goes with the territory. You are under the microscope because you ask for it if you decide to jump into the arena of professional sports. Take a look at Derrick Jeter and read the tabloids.....constant speculation and gossip. In spite of this, the guy always takes the high road and exudes class. Not a bad role model, if you ask me.

allaboutme - 2014-07-17 11:55 AM  This is not the placed to be schooled on peoples opinion C.Loflin especially by you...
I agree and off topic I would say, surely no one can deny that Baby Flo is a BEAST? She is a one horse show for sure and by sheer numbers of runs and rider size to her very small size ratio- she has to be BAD A$$ tough!!
Baby Flo laid down a run...and it was nice, and I'm glad she's making it back.   She may be little but she is mighty!
And she is bred to do her job and does it well. Loved her Momma.

I have the picture of Fallon coming out of the arena during the NFR...on that OTMR (Flowers & Money) mare without anything (not a hand or a leg) touching her.  She was an awesome mare...

OK, another question--is there a place to see the day sheets and find out who's running what day?
I'm excited to see how Christine Laughlin does--she's really doing great this year!

I didn't see anything wrong with the post, it was just a statement of opinion. People talk about other people at all levels, just take a trip out back at any race you will get to hear all sorts of tid bits. But if I had a horse good enough to hang with the big dogs and be out there chasing the dream there wouldn't be a dang thing someone could say about me and my bad self that I would care about! Seriously, I wonder if any of them really give two cents what us arm chair jocks have to say about their sense of style or if they had a bad run?

No- but they generally run slowest to fastest from slack throughout the week.  So you could go through the times of the 96 qualifiers and figure out which 12 will be running starting with the slowest times running on the 19th and progressing through the faster times throughout the 26th.  That will be the second go.  And then the fastest 12 from the average of the two gos will run at the Finals on the 27th.

Also... what a perfect case of "the pot calling the kettle black". You just said "this is not a place to be schooled on people's opinion", yet you just 'schooled' Christy's opinion.

Calangelo - 2014-07-17 11:54 AM I get what Christy's saying.  I've been making a concerted effort to live by the "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" motto.  It's hard, and I fail a lot, but when I don't fail I feel good, and the more positive I am the better I feel.

How is saying nothing blowing smoke up someone's @ss?  When I am asked for my opinion then I give an honest answer, and my friends and family are well aware of that!   Otherwise, I prefer to keep my mouth shut.  I don't like getting unsolicited advice and I don't want to be the one giving it either.

This is true other than the trades, some people will run sooner and some will run later than their original draw.  The qualifiers had an hour after the draw to trade for a different day.

Perhaps it was THIS statement pointed towards SKM's earlier post

"if they cracked out a 4 year old or rocked orange pants they were busy being awesome while others were busy being negative. Enough said."

Just saying.........I would venture to say that is the statement that they are referring to when saying "schooling people's opinions" ?

Duke zig zagged from barrel 1 to 2 at our local prca when he was young. We know how he turned out! lol.  Part of it, just glad shes a hand and able to stick with them and have the patience of seasoning, going down the road day after day and turning out winners every year for our enjoyment. I admire them greatly, if only for the fact that traveling constantly is not for the faint at heart or sissies for that matter.

I was in there last year to check to see if my wife made it back while she was taking care of her horse and I told her it was the most chaotic half hour I had ever seen! lol It was entertaining to watch!  I stayed with the horses this year while she went to trade.  I can feel for the roper!

This is true other than the trades, some people will run sooner and some will run later than their original draw.  The qualifiers had an hour after the draw to trade for a different day.
Yep- that's a good point, there's trading to consider too-
Sounds like you are out there. Did you run? Did you make it back?
If that question was for me, my wife ran and did make it back.  I am the hoof pick and driver.  Cheyenne is always a kick!  We lived there for a few years and really miss the town, especially during Frontier Days!
Who is your wife?
Ann Peterson

Cool, thanks.

How is saying nothing blowing smoke up someone's @ss?  When I am asked for my opinion then I give an honest answer, and my friends and family are well aware of that!   Otherwise, I prefer to keep my mouth shut.  I don't like getting unsolicited advice and I don't want to be the one giving it either.
I read into it differently. I get what you said, but I didn't get what Christy was saying..Sorry for the confusion.

No worries

Yea- best advice is to park as close to the arena as you can- about 90% think those spots are already taken so they park way back with the crowd- it's actually much better parking up front- I've only had one incident when I had to take down a barrier and leave a nasty note on someone's car to get out of there!

SKM thanks for the CFD updates. I enjoyed reading and found nothing negative in what you said! Personally I don't like some of FT's outfits but sometimes I do. I admire her for the fact that she dresses like she wants and could care less what anyone thinks! This is a public forum and we all have the right to voice our opinion as long as no one is being attacked! I don't get the gossip comment either!

Super mature. Let's jump on the bandwagon of blowing things out of proportion. Don't have to be so rude to my Mom. She was there supporting me not just some grump who just wanted to gossip and start drama. Unlike you (judging by your comments because heck we are all judging the way things are being said and putting our own fun little twist on it).

Totally off topic but did Fame Fling n Bling run at Cheyenne this year? If so how did they do?

Finished 18 out of 214 and made it back second set.

How is this off topic... This is ON topic, the rest of the thread is off topic lol. But entertaining and most defiantly interesting non the least :)

Ha ha.... Who cares about Fallon clothes. She has no sense of style and looks like a goof ball. BUT she has made it to the NFR and hits the road trying to make it again. She certainly deserves credit for that. Rodeoing has nothing to do about fashion and taste. She has done what we all want to. Fallon you girl:))

allaboutme - 2014-07-17 11:55 AM  This is not the placed to be schooled on peoples opinion C.Loflin especially by you... It's a public forum and if someone doesn't care for FT for whatever reason, or what she wore...  it's up to them, I'm glad you like her (not many people do) but again it's their right...
Please show me where Christy said that others cannot voice their opinion...??? NOWHERE!
Fallon is a good friend of mine, she stays after rodeos to sign autographs...Etc, etc... Who cares !! ( FT is your friend CL) again if someone wants to say something on a forum etc...

They do make them up! I just threw in gelato to be funny! It failed apparently, but we do now know what gets a rise out of HBL!  And this thread is way off CFD now!

Here are a couple of 'guys' discussing color on the old show Frasier:

Scene Five - Later Workmen carry swatches of the old carpet out. Niles and Frasier are sat on the hardwood steps at the back of the room. All the furniture from the carpeted areas has been piled onto the balcony outside.
Niles: What color is the new carpet?
Frasier: I'm going up a shade... to "Harvest Wheat."
Niles: I thought the next shade up was "Buff."
Frasier: It used to be, but they've discovered a whole new color in
         between.
Niles: So now it's "Tofu, Putty, Oatmeal"...
   Both: "Almond, Harvest Wheat"...
Frasier: "and Buff."
Niles: That's going to be hard to get used to. [Frasier nods]

THat's pink, Alison!  You girls just make sh!t up to frustrate normal men.

Oh God....please stop..."oatmeal"?  Oatmeal looks like dirty dishwater.

Or light brown for us guys!  What does dirty dish water look like?

When I was growing up I had to do the dishes by hand.  The dishwater was grey when I was done.
