Location: Kansas | My daughter has contracted this at daycare, apparently it's spreading like a wildfire all over the city. She has alreaady started to develop some of the blisters, and has a fever. I read that it goes away in a week? Do I need to do another for her?!
My first child.....and not sure what to do for her with this! |

Location: Idahome | We have that going around here in ID too. Luckily, my daughter has not gotten anything and hopefully doesn't. It is highly contagious and I don't think there is much you can do but let it run it's course. I think it lasts a few days and starts to go away. |

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | My daughter picked that mess up from the ball fields when she was a year old. It's miserable. Her gums bled badly and her whole mouth was horrendously sore. She basically didn't eat solid food or brush her teeth for about 10 days. It helps some to use numbing stuff. Swishing benedryl liquid was how we did it. |

Location: Bastrop, Texas | This is usually a self-limited viral infection that rarely leads to serious problems in otherwise normal kids. It typically runs it's course in 1-2 weeks. There is a more serious form, but that is seen in the far east, not here. By the way, this is not the same as foot-and-mouth disease seen in cattle. The main thing you need to watch out for is dehydration, because the mouth sores can become so painful that the kid doesn't eat or drink adequately. Sometimes the kid needs IV fluids for a day or two if they refuse to take in enough by mouth. You can get your doc to call in to the pharmacy and they can mix up a solution (benadryl, lidocaine, and something else) or gel that you can apply to the mouth sores with a Q-tip that will provide them with some relief and enable them to eat and drink enough. Usually, however, reassurance is all that is necessary. He'll be fine. |

This is true....not very often, but possible. Strict hand washing and foaming helps. |
