I found a severely emaciated female pit on the side of the road.  I picked her up & have been feeding her but I can not keep her. I already have 2 pits & a catahoula. Does anyone know a rescue in Mississippi or Louisiana that would be able to help? This little dog is so very sweet but deathly afraid of other dogs. I tried introducing her to my male, he is laid back & sweet to other dogs, she ran and hid. The humane society here euthanizes EVERY pit that walks through the doors so that is not an option for me. Any help finding a rescue or forever home for this sweet pup would be greatly appreciated! She looks to be 6-8months old.

Google it, also check with Villa Lobos in Louisiana. On Facebook there are several, let me look. OK on FB in Mississippi is "Pit Bulls and Pibbles" Try them and I'll ask the TX rescues if they know anyone. I am maxed out at 8 dogs right now!

Thank you for taking her in and doing the right thing. It's a shame that "Humane" Soceities do this just based off breed. Makes me wonder just how many innocent pits die because of this and it's proven that many shelters misidentify these dogs and half are not even pits after all. :( I wish I knew a good place for you to take her, hopefully someone around you has ideas.

I just saw some stats this week. It says that 3000 pit bulls are PTS every day in an "animal shelter". What kind of "shelter" is that?? Pretty darn sad.

Both of my dogs came from a rescue in Mississippi! She's almost ALWAYS full, but will do everything in her power to find someone to help...Where are you located? If anything, I can at least pass along a photo to her if you can get one and we could probably find SOMEONE down there to help!!! The rescue is called "Hoovers Hause All Dog Rescue" and it's in Crenshaw, MS. They have a Facebook page you could check out if you want (there's also an official website if you Google it)! Let me know if you'd like me to pass along info!!! God Bless you for taking the puppy in for now!!!

ETA: The rescue is in Mississippi but she transports dogs to the Wisconsin area about once a month or so. She does NOT usually adopt to people in the south because of the amount of euthanizations down there.

No ideas on rescues in that area, but I have to say, Stitch is the perfect name for her...Good luck on finding a home/rescue.

Poor dog! Google Villa Lobos, I think they're in Louisiana but she has a big network to ask for help. I watched the Pitbulls and Parolees show on animal planet and they would drive long distances to get dogs sometimes. Good luck!!!
