My husband's best friend and his wife are going to be building an arena at their house in the next couple of weeks. He told me that I am more than welcome to come and work my horse, but he needs to know the demensions so that I can have a pattern. I don't need the WPRA sized pattern, but I'd rather it not be a 14 second pattern, either.
What size arena and pattern does everyone have? How far are the barrels off the fence?
They plan to use it for roping as well. I know absolutely nothing about plans for a roping arena... anyone care to share?

We just got our pad finished last week for our arena. Ours measures 180 x 300, but most of the roping arenas that we looked at were 150 x 250 and they were plenty big to run a good size pattern in.

We are building one too. We team rope and we are making it 275 x 200. It is a little wider that normal but it works well on young horses to give them more room to track straight.
