I've raised several.  Well, 5 and two of them became geldings, but I've found one in the neighbor's kill pen and I'm going to let Kinsey get him.  How do you tell age by teeth?  He doesn't exactly have papers............

So you are going to pick up an unpapered stallion, that you dont know the age of or why he is in the kill pen.  WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT???

To give the poor boy a home maybe out of the kindness of her heart?
This doesn't mean he is going to be a breeding stallion! A quick snip and he is an unpapered gelding.

Ditto, I'm a hound for old broodies with hard to find bloodlines. Most of the time they go really cheap. If hay wasn't so high here I'd be in big trouble!

Probably not in bad shape.  A rancher lost his lease and has to let them go.  They are using the saddle horses right now to gather the cattle.  I actually got two this week, have rehomed one already.

How much does it cost to geld in your area?? That cost goes right onto the "purchase" price. Why not buy a horse that you know will not automatically need vet care and added cost upfront??

He's cute nice pick!! I'm sure Kinsey will have him going like a pro in no time. You should go check out the broodies though. You never know if one will be the perfect cross for one of your guys... And then tell us too... I'm supposed to be downsizing but find my self looking again (hint) and I just added 2 to my herd already this summer.

kmchandler - 2014-07-19 7:24 PM Had to get on Kinsey's computer to get the photo.  We think he's threeish.

Photo

Hes a cutie, and not in bad shape at all, I bet Kinsey is going to have a good time with him. He sure does have a shine to him

Just curious, do you know her is full quarter horse, or does he have a bit of pony, he is cute, looks a little on the small size, but pictures can be deceiving.

Hey hey you should train the stud pony and then get him in at the Diamonds and Dirt pony race they have… lease him out to one of the big shots that run in it!

I have one of those $50 stud poniestoo! Only iI didn't think of syndicating mine and had him gelded.... it ended up costing me $600 as his one testical was up in the body cavity. I about croaked. Oh well. He's the best babysitter for Vegas and he hauls like a dream. He's been to Texas, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Wyoming and now Utah.

I didn't think of syndicating him all by myself, some FB people suggested it.......

Seriously the flies are really bad right now, but eventually he will go visit my vet that took care of Faith.

Great idea casual.........
Edited to say Tia this is a great idea cause I would have bought the pony that Ryan Pedone rode that ran with the big horses times this year.  If you have never seen the dog and pony show at Diamonds and Dirt you have missed a real treat.  If you go to youtube you can see the run.

We shouldn't assume that those making statements are "newbies". According to her profile, Hotpaints has been a member of BHW since 2007.

Ah, but it was assumed I was making a poor decision.

I am not naive enough to even think we'll make money off the little fella, but it just might happen.

SHR you have to be in the audience in two years at the pony race.  We'll be there with a full trailer.

Funny how he is sulking with the saddle but seems quite pleased with himself with a rider :)  He looks like he will be a blast!
