I feel very blessed lately!!
I've been on maternity leave this summer, and it's been so awesome hanging out with my 4 kiddos on the farm.
My in-laws are buying a cottage on a lake about a mile from us, I can't wait to take the kids swimming there!
And we've made it to (gasp!) 2 speed shows/play days this summer, and I actually got the nerve to ride my 3.5yr old colt at it this last weekend. Just playing around, but he did sooooo good! And my 4yo daughter has had a blast at them riding our older mare. It's been a blast, and I'm so thankful for the fun we've had!
How about you?
Edited for spelling...

Guess my best news lately was on the 4th of July we hauled in my years worth of hay and stacked it in the barn around 1 pm.  Just before 11 pm I walked out on my patio to have a cig.  Thought what the heck is that light in the barn-realized my barn was on fire.  The lucky part of this story is that it had just started, Fire dept was here in 2 minutes and I only lost a 12-13 ft section of manger and 1 pole.  It is a 52 x 82 barn.  Here is a pic of how close it came to the hay that we had just put in that day.  Neighbors had shot fireworks into the front of my barn and it landed in the manger.  10-12 ft to the left would have been my hay and if I hadn't walked out when I did, another 10 minutes my whole barn would have been gone.

Most of the stuff lately for us has been bad. :( My husband's truck keeps breaking down. Been in the shop like three weeks now. And seems like one of our horses has a new injury every other week.

But my two year old is progressing well at the trainer's and my weanling is still looking very good.

I am thankful that all my babies are healthy and doing well.  The oldest starts her first full time teaching job at her old Middle School (much to Colby's dismay) he'll be seeing big sis in the hallways watching.   Maybe it will curb ol' cowboy cassanova.
My books are record breaking sales so that's fun.

So much to be grateful for.  Thank you for the nice thread.

love these :)

I've been sick since the fourth of July. I went to the ER on Thursday and was feeling real sorry for myself. When I was there I met the nicest nurses and was hearing all of the people coming in (because I was there that long and got bored, and i'm incredibly nosy) and realized how great my life is. 4 of the 6 people coming in was an alcohol/substance related issue. I'm so happy that I don't have to deal with things like that, So now I'm embracing everything! We've got healthy horses, a dog that is healthy and is my little fur child, SO has two kids that are happy and excelling. I'm back in school getting my Real Estate license, my SO and I just celebrated our 3 years despite all of my moms efforts to destroy our life together. It's rainy today but it's sunny in my head :D

I feel like a the Bob Marley don't worry be happy is my theme song right now :)

I find you have to take the good with the bad....we are currently horse-less, we are saving up for our first house as well as horse soon thereafter(hopefully) so as much as I would love both those things now, getting the body on our truck done was first on the list. It is now painted, solid and hopefully going to last us 10 more years!!!!!

I am thankful that our crappy landlord told us to move by October 1st. Why, you may ask?? Because, the fiance agreed with me that after saving our rear ends off for a downpayment the last 3 years (we'll have almost 50% DOWN) - WE ARE SHOPPING FOR OUR VERY OWN FARM!!! YIPPEEEEEEEEWEEE!!!!

I'm only a little excited and thankful that the SO discussed this with me and agreed that this was what needed to happen and I'm thankful the good Lord is pushing us in a clear direction. Now, to find the perfect place that we can build up and make our own!!!

I needed to see this post today. The weekend kicked my butt and I have been pouting all morning.
On the positive side --
Matt seems to be breaking out of his bareback riding slump.  He got hung up, drug, fallen on, stomped and rolled on in mid-June and has struggled physically and mentally since then but last night he made the whistle and did a lot of things right. No money but making the whistle is a good start. Time to build on it and pile up the points & checks!
http://youtu.be/Cj4rVvqJJ1U?list=UU3h0VmyuYbqBRUor4JBQVlA

Cliff won his second rodeo of the year on July 10th (no video darn it - probably the best run we've ever made too), Chance seems to feel good after a very very light summer schedule so far, Streak is gaining weight and turning into one heck of a fun grand entry horse (he also really likes getting petted by kids at the rodeos), Joker and Diamond are holding their weight really well for being 21 & 20, and LG the project horse survived a few "long" trailer rides and riding around at two rodeos over the weekend.

I lived through the county fair last week and even won grand champion hand crafted art for a beaded necklace I made, and I have lost 10 pounds the past couple months by doing short & simple workouts most days. If I keep that up, I will find a whole new pile of jeans to wear! Oh and I bought brand new Wrangler Aura jeans for 80 CENTS Friday. SCORE!!!!!

I am thankful I am feeling better these days.  I am so excited about my new colt.  I said I wouldn't get another horse after my stud died in January.  But I couldn't resist the ad on here so now I own Runnigator.  He is so funny and makes me laugh everyday.  As soon as I get this last surgery I will start riding him.

I'll have to get a pic of it and the earrings I made tonight. Pretty simple stuff and I really thought my sister-in-law's decorated wreath was way cooler than the necklace that I did in 15 minutes at 11:30 p.m. the night before fair entries LOL.

I have a new baby niece, my husband and I are heading home to visit family this weekend and I get to meet her. We're taking a day trip to the beach and hanging out.

We are finishing up our remodel project and it is turning out great.

Our family is healthy and we all have jobs.

I pulled a 40' flatbed loaded with cattleguards home (in the dark!) the other night!!
I was telling my husband how I'm nervous about getting a LQ trailer (10' SW is what we're looking at) and how I don't think I will be able to go off by myself and be the independent person that I like to be because I'm afraid I'll get in a jam and he won't be there to help me.... so he told me to drive home and I did!  I had to maneuver thru trees, curvy roads and do a little bit of backing AND IT WASN'T BAD!!  The trailer was also 8'6" wide, so I'm feeling much more comfortable about the 8' we're looking at!

...and after feeling like something was "off" with my gelding I discovered that his stifle was out.  We haven't ran in three weeks and his last couple of runs were really crappy so I'm excited to get back out there this weekend!  I'm still trying to figure him out (and I was starting to get frustrated on how we could be getting worse instead of progressing), so I'm excited for what the future holds knowing that he's good to go now!

I get to wake up every day with my best friend by my side. I have a beautiful, intelligent, loving daughter who asks if I will have breakfast with her, every morning. We have horses, dogs and chickens, with just enough feed in the barn to keep going. Every day is the best day, because it's a blessing from God.

I was just thinking what an absolutely fabulous summer it has been already!!  My main mount hit a few speed bumps, but seems to be past them and keeps running harder every run, my unseasoned horse is coming along like wildfire and I can't wait to see what he's like in a couple months, my SO bought me a practically new Elite LQ trailer so that I will hit the road a bit more (he knows how much I love to barrel race, but I've been hanging out at home a lot the last couple years getting horses ready since I sold my rodeo horse), and I got my motorcycle license!!!

this has been a rough year and I feel like I am running on whatever little bits of good happen...Yesterday I got told not to take photos at the track anymore, which really bummed me out(that was my time to escape from reality), but apparently since people were coming to me to buy prints it was against their contract with the photographer they hired, so I have to stop. Oh well, the good thing is I have more time to work on the house and spend time with my husband and my dogs, I have time to ride now(which I did today). Were moving along pretty good on remodeling the house(bathroom is done, moving on to the kitchen next), and the best thing of all is I have a wonderful, supportive husband that is behind me 100% on whatever crazy ideas I decide to try. He is my rock!

Sounds like you might be a better photographer than the one they hired! Sorry they said to stop as I SURE enjoyed your photos.

We have had a wonderful year this year! I am thankful everyday I wake up that I live in the country away from town & for the country that I live in. After having a bad year last year things couldn't be better. Both my children are grown & live away from home, but they both have jobs & work hard everyday. After being hurt really bad last year my husband is still able to cowboy & is celebrating 28 years of being self employed as day worker. Hard work but he loves it. Our horse business is going strong. We have some new young studs & I think our babies are better than ever. We had 20 foals this year & 15 of them are sold, we had one get hurt so we will keep her, she was my pick away. After several years of drought we have had lots of good rain. My life couldn't be better. The grass is green, the foals are growing, I'm married to my hero, my children are the best & God is great.

Love this thread!
Let's see, we've finished tearing out and replacing the old fence at our house with RAMM Hotcote fence (love!), all new gates, and have hay in the barn that we don't have to feed yet because of all of the awesome rain we've gotten lately! I have an awesome job, a great SO that works his arse off, and my horse that couldn't seem to get out of the 3D, has been in the 1D the last 4 times we've ran! I'm so thankful every day to even have my horses, but for them to work their tails off for me, it's just awesome!

Finally started construction on our new house, but the absolute best thing that has happened to me lately is my 24 year old daughter has started riding and going to races with me again-now that makes me happier than anything :).

Congrats on the new baby WB!!  My first 2 are 13 months apart which I think is almost easier, the older one did not have a clue what was going on.

Exciting all the new homes and farms, congrats everyone, enjoy!

SVincent, so exciting to be so close, have a name picked out yet?

My baby girl, Kaylee, was born on July 9th at 19:26 via emergency C-section. I am so thankful for my husband and that the Lord blessed us both with such a beautiful, healthy child.

rodeowithjoker - 2014-07-21 10:11 AM I needed to see this post today.

SCORE!!!!!
I want to see the necklace!!

My good news is that I picked up a new, VERY PRETTY horse on Sunday!
I'll have to get a pic of it and the earrings I made tonight. Pretty simple stuff and I really thought my sister-in-law's decorated wreath was way cooler than the necklace that I did in 15 minutes at 11:30 p.m. the night before fair entries LOL.

I want to see pics of the new pretty horse!!
Can I email you a pic - I can't do FB at work and photobucket is a pain so I never post pics on here anymore! - PM  me your email addy and I'll send you a pic and you can post it if you would like to!

Ok the horse is Griz's new ride, and the jewelry is what I made for the fair. The necklace won champion hand crafted arts and the earrings got a blue as well.

I resigned from my teaching position in May to spend all my time with my family and once school starts, my horses will get the rest of my time.  I am contemplating other changes, but that will take much prayer and planning.
