I am seeing some riders wearing their rider numbers on their back, when in the rules it specifically said "Rider numbers must be placed on the left leg side of the horse's saddle pads/blankets".

Does anyone know the penalty for not following that rule?

I've seen it every year I've been there. They won't do anything except make you change it. The gate guys or check in guy shoud say something. Even if he doesn't I've never seen the big deal with the numbers. I don't see why it mattered where they are as long as you have it. If you don't change it after being told that's a different story though.

Win the race by being the fastest competitor, not a silly technicality.
