That is awesome. Crazy Aussies, ours loves to go to the top of the slide with our 2 YO son. He waits until Ian makes it to the bottom, then he dives down the slide.

You will have to click on that first link again :) For some reason both links showed the same video but I corrected it. I think it was about a 15 foot drop :)

We are thinking of doing a float trip this coming weekend. I had been looking at the Salem/Steelville area but I would imagine it gets horribly crowded and not just by sober people. There is a place here in our town that does floats on the Gasconade and sounds like it would be much less crowded.....and closer to home

There is/was a place where hw 32 crosses the upper Gasconade... We put in there one year with our own boat and floated down to the pullout under I44.. But we had a week to spend on the water.. Don't recall the name of the place. Right out the south gate there are 2 places on the Big Piney.. Wilderness Ridge and Rich's Last Resort.. Mostly they take you up to float back down but If you ask at one of them you might get a float down to the old waterworks and bridge to the fort... That one is not floated much, or didn't used to be and is a gentle trip.
The floats at Salem on the currant river I recommend for people that know how to use a canoe unless you don't mind taking a dip in very cold water. It's not deep but it is rated a gradient 6 (drops 6 feet per mile). Fantastic and beautiful float as are the floats on the Jacks Fork.
I envy you!!!! I love floating those rivers and miss them greatly!! Have a good time1!!
ETA: Steelville on the Merrimack is always pretty busy on a weekend.... But still a slow float with lots of eddys to paddle through... The others are mostly steering work and the faster water provides most of the momentum..

No worries I'm super handy with a canoe. However....I'm getting a kayak for myself.
OH!!!! You want fast water!! LOL!!! OK... Right on my back door at Newburg is the Little Piney... Off I44 take hy T.. through Newburg, cross the river and hang a right... Bout 1/2 a mile later is a place that can help you out if they have kayaks.... This is a gradient 9 and the fastest water in the state.. I've had tons of fun on this river!!!

Now that sounds more like my kind of fun!
It's not very big so don't go in low water.... It's not very long... about 18 miles I think.... Spring fed from Lane Spring.. No access to float above the Vida Bridge, Below Vida is only the hyCC bridge and the hyT bridge It empties into the Gasconade at I44 just a few miles east of the fort. Like I said, I played on this little river for 40 years.. If you bring a camera put it in a Tupperware container.... This ain't no float for sissies!!!
