Just a quick question. Are the horses that compete in the bfa in December futurity horses that have been running all of 2014 or is this their first race for 2015. I don't know a whole lot about futurity stuff and was pondering this. Thanks

It can actually be both. The majority of the horses are running at the last Futurity of their career. Because it is after Dec 1, some people will enter it as a horse's first Futurity if they plan to run them as a 5 year old. There have been a few to do this and make it to the Finals.

The horses that run in the finals at the BFA have been running all year this is the big race and it shows where they place. But it is also the beginning for the new futurity horse to begin . You can start running your futurity horse the first of december.

In Oklahoma in December you have the futurity finals for those that have ran all year and you also have the juvenile futurity which can be their first futurity to enter.
